 Post subject: Manic Salamander Bar Ends, just installed

I just put these on my 650f today but had them before on a ninja 500 and they did a great job which is why I went for them again on my new machine. Installation was very easy, about a half hour. It comes with ample washers so you can get it to fit just right, especially on the throttle side so it won't interfere.

They are more than twice as heavy as the stock bar ends plus there is no more rubber holding them in which some have reported coming loose and the bar end falling out. These are metal to metal, its a flange which expands tightly against inside of the bar when you use the allen wrench to tighten. Very snug!

They help to eliminate any vibration and they also stick out a bit more which offers slightly better protection if the bike falls over. The 650f is already a very smooth machine but I know this mod will make it even better, especially on long trips or all day riding. They were fantastic on my ninja and so I can recommend them as a useful mod. Imo they are the most effective bar ends available anywhere and the price is not too bad.

I went with the 7/8" Cylindrical Black Powdercoat at $64.99/pair. They also have other styles and chrome, stainless steel.

Forgot to mention... not for aluminum bars if you have swapped out our stock!

I am familiar with the Manic Salamander bar ends but have never actually bought any of my own. I did get some tingling in my hands recently after a 2 hour ride so I was considering these for the 650F.

Did u have the same problem as me or did u just install them coz you already owned them?

Hi hp, From my experiences on the ninja I just wanted them on the 650f for the extra weight and protection. I was happy with existing very low vibration on the 650f. You may be picking up some very subtle vibration that others would not have an issue with so these would probably help. But I know it costs more for you to get them shipped to oz. I just wanted to minimize any remaining vibration as much as possible because for me it usually shows up at the end of a riding day or long trip. I also didn't want my stock ones falling out so that was another factor.

Just forgot to mention, the new 'dragonfly' style is probably the heaviest bar end available anywhere. They come in at 16oz each where the 'original' like I have register a respectable 12.75oz each.

Managed to put on a few miles yesterday with the new bar ends and I can recommend these. They help to calm down the front end, to reduce any remaining vibration of our already low machine. I noticed bumpy roads are better now too. But I also installed some 'grip puppies' overtop my stock grips so maybe these are helping as well? But the steering just feels more secure with the heavier ends.

Here are some pics and you can see the size difference and further out they go from the stock. And you cannot move these at all so they will not be falling out. I was always checking my stock ends to see if they were tight. The metal to metal connection really makes for a super tight fit.

Those look VERY nice... is that red inside the bar end stock? Or did you paint to match the bike?

How smooth is it now over 5000rpm? I've got the grip puppies coming and if you tell me it's like butter, I'll get those bar ends also to have the same setup.

Yes there is a red (metal I believe?) piece which the bolt rests against when tight. I really like these and as I said had a set on my prev ninja 500. More weight on bars translates into less vibration and these are heavier than stock. The dragonfly model is even heavier but not sure I would want that style.

With this and the grip puppies vibration is greatly reduced and it makes a difference when riding all day.

Another plus is these are not coming out, its a metal to metal fit when tight.

PS: I filled my bar with bb's and plastic bag stuffed into each end so this is helping too.

Sorry I didnt reply sooner. Glad you like the setup I have on the bars Im very happy with the results and hope you will be too.

Norman - - Yes very smooth at 5000k and up, I occasionally cruise at 73mph 5200rpm to keep up with traffic.

Regarding vibration, im not an expert but apparently it takes more momentum to move a heavier object so more weight in and attached to the bar will make it less prone to vibration. Its not even an issue for me anymore and I had no choice due to health issues I have.

Toyed with idea of putting somethign heavier than bb's in bar like lead but didn't want to take a chance of having our skinny bar snap in half due to too much weight, not a good thing to have happen at speed! :shock:

Definitely report back on how you make out so others can benefit.

You must have changed a sprocket? 73 mph for me would be somewhere up around 6k.
