If you've enjoyed the cornering guide I've passed around, you will love these vids - produced by the Motorcycle Council of New South Wales, so they're "by riders for riders" kinda stuff.
If you're smart, you will never stop learning ;)

Thanks Nitekreeper. Much appreciated by one of those 'still learning' after nearly 40 years. Never too old. Image

Thanks for that, NK.

Perhaps it was Marco's sad passing last night that got me thinking about the "freaky" crap that can happen out there (personally, when in doubt I tend to ride like an old fart anyway; not that I have a predudice against farts  ). In any event, as suggested I've booked myself in for a two-day course with St John's Ambulance. Better late than never, I guess.

$200, roughly, for those interested.

Cheers, Matt

PS. I wonder if your link should be placed on the main page as a "newbs start here" button? Be interesting to see the number of clicks it received. Cheers.

Matt ,make sure you ask about motorcycle riders when doing the course ,some times we don't even get a mention at all ,thats if you just booked in for a regular first aid course.

Great link NK.

Hi Sled,

Yes I mentioned to the lady taking the booking that I'm a motorcyclist and she recommended the "Level 2" course, whatever that means (she sent through some literature to read; I'll scan through it tonight). But for sure, I'll let the instructor know at the start that I'd be most interested in any motorcycle specifics. Thanks for the tip.

Regards, Matt

St John's did a short course here in the ACT specifically for riders. I found it very useful. It was a good 'top up' to the normal course.

Finished the St John's two day course today (mentioned I was most interested in anything motor-cycle at the outset). Though the instructor tossed a few bones every now and again, really it was more your run-of-the-mill general stuff. Oh well.

Guess I'll go and practice a few chest-presses on the wife for the hell of it.

Cheers, Matt

Nite, thanks a lot for sharing this link, awesome stuff!!!

Here in the state of Washington, the authorities are very much for you (and of course after you for legal stuff *LOL) I've book me in to a series of classes, will cost about $1K, yet well worth invested money, because you never stop learning.
