Has anyone had any experience with Metrick Metal's Forward Footpeg Mounts? I need to drop my pegs but I'm a bit confused about the mounts and the footpeg adapters. Do I need the adapters for the mounts? If not, what is the unit that actually lowers the pegs? If I do need the adapters, is there a way for it not to fold away like the rearset do? Stuff looks quality made, I just don't know what part(s) I need to simply lower the pegs. Finally, how much does it lower over the stock setup?

MetrickMetal (Scott) is a 1 man producer of first quality accessories for our bikes & many more.
I have his "Mirror Mounts" and have worked with him to "fine tune" them for the 650's as well as the units he already was producing for the1250 Bandits.
After installing his product I am quite pleased with them, pleasently suprised by the customer support he provides, and can give the overall experience a big thumbs up! Fair price for the quality of product delivered also!

But about the pegs....
He recomended to me to try flipping the stock peg mounts over first and trying that no-cost option first.
It was better, but He has a Bandit and they have different stock peg locations than the 650F does. So I will be making inquires myself on fabricated re-location mounts myself.
I would advise dropping hin a line on his website outlining your desires and see what his recomendations are after that. His land line number  is on there as well.
You will likely recieve a 'phone call so he can talk to you & get all of the details before he makes a suggestion as that he does do 1 off work to order also.....
Tell him Douglas sent you.....

I can't vouge for this specific product you're inquiring about, but the vendor in general, MetrickMetals (Scott) does excellent work. He fabbed up some passenger grab bar replacement blocks for me and everything was top notch - fit, finish, tolerances, all perfect. You're going to pay a premium since these pieces are custom milled, but I can definitely say it's worth it. I'm going to get around to taking some pictures of them this week and I'll get them on here.

Hi Rick.

I am 6' 2" tall, and even though my knees fit within the indentations on the sides of the gas tank, I felt I would like to have a little less bend in my legs during long rides. I had tried raising the seat up, but it made my knees barely fit within the indentations on the gas tank, and I did not like how much higher it made me sit on the bike.

So It came to me to rotate the foot peg mounts around 180 degrees, which lowers the foot pegs about 1 1/2", while also moving them forward about 1", and this has made a big improvement for me as in my riding position and comfort, as the top of my thighs were almost parallel to the ground when I was sitting on the bike, and now their at about a 10 degrees angle down.

When you rotate the peg mounts, you will also have to remove the pivot pins for the foot pegs, and rotate the pegs back around 180 degrees also, so the rubber is back on top.

At first I adjusted both my shifter and brake levers, by adjusting the pedal all the way down until the end of the plunger rod was almost hitting the top of the brake lever, now my foot sits comfortably over the brake lever, without my foot touching it, and is easily actuated, and much better than the stock lever position was.

For the shift lever I initially removed the plastic side cover to expose the shifter linkage, and then I removed the pinch bolt on the splined shift linkage arm, and rotated the lever clockwise one notch.

I then adjusted the shift linkage rod all the way in on both ends, so that the top of my boot was right below the shift lever, which made it much easier for me to shift with the lowered foot pegs, and much better than as it came setup from the factory, but after riding it like this for quite awhile I was still not completely happy with the relationship of the shift lever to my boot.

So I decided after riding it like this for about a year, to again see what I could do to improve the position of the shift lever, and that’s when I came up with the idea raising the pivot for the shift lever up about 1” by making a custom billet aluminum lower left motor mount/shift lever mount bracket, and also making a new shorter time threaded aluminum shift linkage rod. The two changes have gotten it almost perfect for me, but when I get some time I am going to experiment with machining some new slots in the foot peg brackets that will allow me to rotate the foot pegs mounts to a slightly different position.

Here's an older pic showing my shift lever mount with the raised pivot, as the mount is now powder coated semi-gloss black

Here's a current pic that shows the rotated and lowered foot peg mounts

So this is something you can try which doesn’t cost any money, and as far as my forward foot peg mounts for the 1250 Bandit go, they will not work with the lower fairing on the GSX650F. I can make them work, but I will need to get someone with a GSX650F to come to my shop in Lancaster CA so I can see what mods I will need to make them the GSX650F.

Scott,
Is it possible for you to make a mirror signal adapter of the GSX-R600 for the GSX650F? I know a lot of people want it. I am sure I would love to have them. Just a thought
