Just ordered a set mirror extensions from http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2008-GSX ... .m20.l1116

I'll let you know how they work in a few days. Next on the list are one inch risers for the handlebars. Just concerned about cable length. Seems like they should work though.

I installed the extensions and it looks good. It helped quite a bit to see past my arms. I'd recommend them if your having problems seeing what's behind you.

I have had it up to 120mph. No issues here. This morning was the first warm enough morning that I didn't have to wear my motorcycle jacket. With the mirror extensions I was very pleased on how I could see behind me. With my jacket on I still couldn't see behind me as well as I would like. The jacket has that armor in the elbows which reduces rear visibility.

Thats right you only will crash on cold days so thats when you need your jacket on.

About the mirror extensions I made my own out of a 1 inch thick block of teflon. Used a belt sander to shape it and then drill out the mounting holes. Best mod and all it cost me was 2 hours of work.

I should have but I could't...I am a smart a$$.

No I'm not going to paint them. They are in the junk yard along with the rest of the bike after hitting gravel on an S turn at 50+ mph.

Couldn't resist after your comment about crash on cold days only. Not being a Michigander I guess we appreicate the arm weather just a tad more.

I don't know but we have only had 2 days above 60 degrees this year. So I know all about appreicating the warm weather.

It was 40 degrees the day I crashed so had on all my gear, but it could have been 90 and I would have been hot but I still would have survived a 50 MPH crash with out a scratch on me.

Back to the mirrors. The extensions work great no extra movement needed to see just a quick look. The only hard part is fonding the material to make them.

Just put a set of extensions on. What a difference. I'm 6'2", about a 44-46" jacket size, and before I couldn't see right behind me. Somewhat annoying but I figured I was still getting use to the bike. Now after owning it a year I decided to put on some extensions. Great change in visibility, and I highly recommend them as a simple, quick to install safety item. The 1" blocks make a huge difference. I still have to look at my elbows but it is much nicer to see the nice people tailgating me now.

I also have the block-style extenders.

The difference is huge. I highly recommend it.

You might also want to try these adjustable extenders for the 1250 Bandit/GSX650F.

Gonna get a set soon.
