New guy here, just ordered a a new Orange/Black 09 GSX650F. Will be picking it up in April hopefully. Bought sight unseen so I`m hoping all the good reviews I`ve read on her are spot on and that my old body is up to riding a semi sport bike again. Still kept the 03 Intruder VL1500 LC just in case. Looking forward to Spring and hope I will be able to get a lot of good advise from the folks here. Thanks.

Hi wes,
My congratulations! You are in similar situation as I, only advantage is that you can pick up your beauty in April but I can do it only in May (because in April we still have a lot of ice on roads).

Hi Wes and Doublef100 and welcome.
Just add bar risers 1" up and 1" back and a sheep skin cover for the bum ,and you won't even know your on a sports bike, you'll be just as comfortable cruising down the hwy like your on your cruiser . One of the best things about this bike ,is you can turn it into what ever you like .Some of the younger guys have made it more sporty adding race style clip on handle bars with ,race pipes. And some of the older guys and girls ,get it lowered ,add panniers and softer seats ,bar risers and turned it into a super tourer.

Welcome to the Forum Wes and Doublef100.
Wes, 'that old body' as you put it will have no troubles at all on the 650F. It's quite a comfortable bike to ride and you've got a few good options available to make it suit yourself a bit more if needed. There is a few threads on the forum about reversing the footpegs for extra room, gel and touring seats, bar risers etc.. so have a good read through and enjoy your new machine.
Doublef100, Welcome Mate. I feel your pain. I've got about an 8 week wait for my new hayabusa. It seems to take forever, but the wait is worth it in the end. Just take it easy on your maiden voyage and be careful on those icy roads with the new tyres. Once you do get it though you'll have a grin from ear to ear!! Congrats on the purchase.
Hi Wes, I certainly think you won't have any problems with riding the F. I'm 58 and only 5'6" and I have had nearly two years of really great riding on the F. I have decided to buy my dream bike (GSXR 750) and it's just not practical for me to have kept the F. Believe me the R is hard on the bum, wrists and neck and when compared to the F the F is way more comfy and should be a great fit for you, besides it is a sweet bike and I sure miss her. (See I can't keep away from the forum). Then you still have the option of raisers etc incase you feel you want to do some adjustment. I feel for you guys in the cold parts, with all that snow and ice we get to ride all year round if we can accept the rain. Good luck with the F. Here's my new ride. Regards from Durban RSA.
