Hi everyone I have just taken delivery of a new 650f and love it to bits. I am still running it in (can't do more than 6000 revs at present ) but it leaves me grinning all day. Does any body know the downside of owning this machine ???. By the way i'm an oldie at 65 but still give the youngsters a run for their money !!!.

Forget the limit of 6000 revs and give it some work to do, just make sure that it is warmed up properly and don't labour it or load it for long durations. It will be better for it in the long run.

Geoff.

Hi Gerry,

I find the only downside of this bike is that I love it soooooo much, that I find my self taking it out for a spin, when I should be working!

It's a great bike and I hope that your 65yr old body appreciates the sport-TOURING aspect of this bike as much as my 49 yr old body does.

Where are you located? I'm in South Jersey, near Philly.

Safe riding,

TTAWD

Hi Gerry and welcome from Oz to the GSXF club. I haven't found a downside to the bike yet, except for inclement weather. By the way I am a semi-oldie (turn 58 in a couple of days), noy quite an oldie yet !!

Hi Gerry, you have come to the right forum!

Being 35 years of age, all you "semi oldies" give me hope for my future riding. I guess I dont have to grow up after all !

Welcome Gerry !!

I love my bike. During the break-in, I just rode the bike like normal, and pushed it into the higher rpms every once in awhile after going beyond 500 miles. On country roads, I varied the speed according to the road and used different gears at the same speeds, just to make the bike work a little. After 500 miles, I just rode normally, and pushed the bike to higher rpms sometimes. I have a little over 1600 miles on mine and am taking it on long trips as the weather gets better.

Beware of gravel !!! The bike has enough power to push forward, even though you may have the front wheel turned, believing the bike will turn in the gravel. It will turn down onto the gravel. If you are in gravel, keep the bike straight and watch your footing when you are putting your feet down to walk the bike, or steady it. A little foot slip, and the bike will lay down.

May you live to be 150.

That's the best reason to retire ever. :D

Only downside i have found is the seat is stiff and i get numb bum after an hour, and the grips are not too comfy. Other then that its a dream and those issue i have are easily solved!

Welcome,

The biggest downside I find with mine is I can't stay off.
I have owned my bike a month and a half and have put on just shy of 3,000 miles(4828km). :P
Although my body is younger at 21.

Congrats on the new purchase and get out there and ride!

Agreed,
Only problem with the GSX650F, IS:::::::::: You can't put it away once you get on it. Can cause some marital problems if wife does not like bikes. That's why it cost me more money so I could buy a enduro bike for my wife, and now we can ride a bit together. Which caused me to buy a 3rd enduro (used bike) for me to trail ride with her, and do some local road putzing around. Everybody seems happy now, except if I disappear on the 650F for super long periods of time without telling her first.
It's a great machine, no downsides about it period......
