I have installed the Oxford heated grips and I am pretty happy with them. I have wired them directly to the battery, so if I park my bike and forget to turn them off, the battery will drain. I was going to install a relay this weekend but I wondered if it would be worth the effort. I expect I will remember to turn them off 95% of the time, and the other 5% the Oxford grips are meant to turn themselves off when battery voltage drops to 11V or something, supposedly leaving you enough power in the battery to start the bike.

So, my question is:

Has anyone who uses the Oxford heated grips accidentally left them on? If so, what was the outcome? Is it safe to depend on the built-in safeguard for the rare occasions you forget to turn them off?

I got no idea about electrical stuff ,but doesn't our bike has a plug ready for this sort of accessories ??

A guy on my local forum down here on the coast ,just fitted some the same as you did and they wouldn't work as his battery was almost flat ,but the bike would start.
So I guess they do work.

Im not sure about those particular grips, but i would definatly be putting in a relay, for the couple bucks it is too buy one compared to a new battery (if the cut off doesnt work). Again not knowing the circuit of those grips, would be basic heating element and switch a assume , but you wouldnt want power going to them all the time.
