hey guys and gals,

i have purchased some biketek front and rear paddock stands but having a few problems with the front stand.

The 2 prones that sit at each side of the fork sit fine on the left hand side fork but the right hand side one has a little bolt coming off the front of the fork causing the prones to slip.

any ideas what its for and could i replace it for a smaller head.

or any other ideas?

thanks

mark

One side sits higher than the other.

I Had This Last Week, As You look at the front of the bike, the right hand fork leg is lower than the other, coz of the shoulder on the spindle.

You might be able to get a paddock stand with an adjustable leg, ive now got a £60 stand i cant use :<

I pulled the screw that was blocking the pin when I stored it for the winter. I decided that I didn't want to do that every time I had the bike on the stands, so I bought the Pit Bull stand that has the pin that inserts into the hole in the triple clamp. MUCH EASIER.

Dang, I never noticed they were different lengths. I guess I'll get the one that lifts it by the triple clamp.

I have a triple clamp stand. They work great. One tip though, when using it, make sure that the pin is fully inserted into the hole in the triple clamp before lifting. I was doing a little beer fueled maintenance the other day and when I went to lift the front, the stand came out of the hole and put a nice little scratch on my front fender. It's not noticeable, but it irked me nonetheless.

Lesson learned. Make sure that sucker is all the way in before you lift. 8)

Ok i have got my front paddock stand to fit now. just a little of modification is required.

I noticed that forks are different lenghts so i tried pushin the the arm above the bolt but no luck.

Here what i did,

I tried putting the stand on without one rubber protectors and it fits fine. so i thought i would file the rubber down.

as you can see i have filed the lengh of the rubber down a bit. once you get it filed down enought you can slide the arm on this way

And a few extra pics

I think you are trying to use that front stand incorrectly. The front prong should be on the bottom of the fork with the back prong behind. Checkout this link to see how it's done. http://www.pit-bull.com/Images/forkliftguide.html You should be able to remove the axle when it's on the stand, otherwise why would you need to elevate it? That said, the unequal length of the forks creates a problem.

just out of interest GSX650F_Mark, why have you mounted your tax disc to the caliper bolt?

Caliper bolts are quite important have you properly torqued it?

most are on the swing arm using the chaing guard screws. I've put mine onto the side of the radiator so that thieving little scumbags can't steal it.

If you haven't put it there at the very least I'd make sure it was torqued properly.
