Well the ergos will take some getting used to, especially coming from a cruiser. Google "Master Yoda riding position" and learn it. You will be putting more pressure on your wrists, so learning how to properly sit on the bike is going to be paramount. I added a crampbuster as well to help with the hand position. My other bike is a cruiser, albeit a BMW, but it's a reclined position compared to the way a sportier bike sits, so I have some first hand knowledge. I am actually more comfortable on the GSX than the Beemer. If you find the pegs are cramping your style, do a search and you'll find that flipping the pegs helps (I did this myself). Congrats and good luck getting any sleep for the next week.

It was mentioned this bike has a little less horsepower than other bike. Don't get fooled. This thing is plenty fast. I've seem 140 on the top end at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. A 100 miles an hour is easy. It's quick and nimble........Great choice......as we all know BLUE is faster.....

Another note on this point, this bike is WAY faster than your Shadow. Just remember that before you crank the throttle. It's no Gixxer, but it's close. For example, the shadow 750 does 0-60mph in 7.24 seconds, the Shadow 1100 does it in 6.5. The GSX650F does it in 3.8 seconds. A Gixxer 600 does it in 3.2 seconds. You get the picture.

People who call this bike slow are probably spoiled to crotch rockets.

ok..dunno if ne1 is gonna read this, but i got my bike today!!!...finally!!
Well going from the underpowered Honda Shadow 600 to this, is like night and day. Like going from a Pick-up truck to a Corvette. DAMN! this bike halls ass!!!...I love IT!!!...WOW, i really can't believe how it feels..i mean, the Shadow was my first bike, and i never rode anything else, but this bike is a dream!..i mean, it pulls hard in any gear..smooth shifting, great breaks...i love the seating position....ok..is it weird, that i can just go out to the garage and stand there and just stare at the thing for ever..LOL..i mean the thing really is a hot sexy bike IMO! Again..I LOVE IT! Great purchase Cheers ;)

For smooth riding, since the bike is fuel injection, when using the throttle to increase or decrease speed, practice using, itsy bitsy, eeney weeney and tiny throttle movement. That will help get rid of the throw-you-forward feeling when you just let go of the throttle to slow down.

Ear plugs eliminate most of the wind noise through your helmet.

I rode for several hundred miles last week into 25 to 35 mph head and side winds. The bike was stable, rock solid most of the time. Once in a while it shifted a few short inches. But that was fun, because the road was straight and boring and I got do do a little turning, not much, but a little variety.
