What about it? Everyone knows this country has strong roots in Freemasonry. The organization was much stronger and predominant decades and centuries ago. Today its influence has waned, as has its membership, but the foundations of this country were, be this what it may, largely influenced by Masons. So it's in the architecture of Washington, the money that is printed, etc.

It's as much a fact as is the saying "history is written by those who conquer it". Well, that was the Masons.

If someone has to join a club ..to be a better person ,do charity ,to have honor or give honer and feel they belong to some thing or a family .. then I feel sorry for them.

Im my own man ,my word is my honour I've invited ANY strangers into my home and feed them and give them comfort in times of need and help them.
ALL people of the world old young ,rich ,broke ,black white green or red ,are my bothers and SISTERS.

And its FREE and i'm my own leader ...

Having said that if you want to join a club ,go right ahead , :D
But im my world as long as you treat people with respect and the way you want to be treated and you don't hurt another person doing what your doing then it all COOL by me.

All you freemasons here - is their a secret handshake or is it a myth ?

We are socially evolved primates , by belonging to clubs or forums or groups ect this provides an opportunity to interact with others human beings, half the problems of the world is social isolation, so my point is if the masons are a group of people who get together and socialise just like the bingo club then overall thats a good thing for mankind.

Interstingly some mason clubs are by invite only, i.e if your not rich your not welcome.

My uncle was chief grand poo bar at the lodge , i have a photo of him all dressed up in his gear he looks like king athur. I remember at his funeral the masons all did a dance and chant at his funeral.

To answer a couple of your questions 99sydrd,

There is a handshake used to identify a fellow Mason.
We are not a bingo club, but a charitable organisation that supports youth welfare, retirement homes for elderly, local needy causes, Victorian bushfire victims etc.
There are some "eletist" Lodges, but you wouldn't join them.
Never heard of dancing and chanting at a Masonic funeral - there is a small ceremony to acknowledge the life of a Mason.

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to sound negative. The thing is, the only thing we "non Masons" hear about masons is usually mysterious and almost cult-ish, and revolve around world domination and strange rituals.

I would expect that those assumptions would be rubbish for the vast majority of you (but there are always a few rotten apples in any group).

If you are making a positive contribution to the world, then you are doing more than I am with my patented "good intentions but no action" stance.

Cheers HP,

Having a large membership in a world wide organisation you do encounter the occasional bad apple - Benedict Arnold for example.

About that, and i quote: Novus ordo seclorum! if you don't know latin that means new world order, and i doubt that those that made that are no longer strong and dominant. Sure you might have good intentions but those elitistic masons have other ideas than yours. And so far the new world order doesn't look so good.

Actually if you want to get technical "Novus ordo seclorum" translates to "New order of ages", and in all the years that i have been a mason, i have never heard or seen it on anything that is masonic in nature, but lets not get picky here, The bottum line is that it is very obviouse that you are one of the many "Sheep" in this world who hear or read something and automatically take it as law. If you really want to know the truth about freemasonry then i suggest you step up and ask a mason, However, if you enjoy your little fantasy world of conspiracies and false information then by all means, continue spouting nonsence about things you know nothing about. I personally know men in the absolute highest levels of masonry, and i can tell you this, they are just normal guys like you and I, they would give the shirt off their backs if they thought that you needed it, and unlike alot of groups out there, they do not require you to agree with their way of thinking in order for them to want to help you.
