I sold my GSX650F.
It is currently at Gina's BMW in Iowa City, Iowa, waiting for a new owner. http://www.ginasbmw.com/ The bike had about 8000 miles on it and was meticulously maintained. It has a fresh set of Pilot Road "2" tires on it.
I might also be selling the factory luggage and SW-Motech luggage racks if a local friend doesn't buy them. I'll post here if those parts go up for sale.

What kind of mod to the bar end retainer you mention to make this work? Thanks
The Kaoko is longer than the stock bar end. So the bolt isn't long enough to reach the threads on the far inside of the bar end retainer. In the middle of the retainer assembly there is a hollow silver rod that can be cut down a little so that the bolt can reach the nut on the end of the retainer. It sounds more complicated than it is. Once you get the stuff out of the handlebars, everything is simple to understand.
Alternatively, you could just use a longer bolt. But I didn't have one handy so I opted to shorten the retainer assembly to fit the stock bolt.

Off topic - So which BMW did you purchase? I'm assuming you traded the GSX650F in for a BMW.
I test drove a K1300S and a R1200RT last week and love them both! Decisions, decisions.
I ended up getting a R1200GS. It is spectacularly ugly, but wonderful to ride. Due to injuries, my lower back can no longer tolerate sport bikes. Which is sad and I'll miss them. But at least the GS is fun to ride too.

Just being nosey, how long did you own the 650F, and how much did the value drop between purchase price and trade-in value?
btw, I think the R1200GS looks kinda cool.

*drool* beautiful bike! Congrats!
A buddy of mine just traded in his R1200RT for the 1200GS Adventure to ride the Continental Divide trail from Canada down to Mexico (Great Divide Ride)

I bought the GSX650F in July of 2008. I made a trade to buy it and traded it to get the GS, so it is hard to give an exact depreciation. But I'd estimate the GSX650F lost $3000 of value during the time I had it.

Hp i was offered a while back 5.5k on a trade in on a new bike. Take into account my bike needed new shoes and rego. So with rego and good shoes probably worth low 6 ish , taking a hit of approx 5+ grand on new.
7.5 was the lowest i'd go. Interesting they offered me 7.5 on another bike they had but i didnt want it.
Next bike i buy maybe be used to avoid taking the big hit on depreciation.

I am thinking the same thing. I am putting my bike in for a major service on Tuesday and I asked the dealer to tell me what I would get for a trade-in on a new v-strom 650 or used v-strom 1000. I probably wont actually change bikes yet, seeing as I just paid for 1 years rego and insurance but it will be interesting to find out exactly how much I would lose if I did trade it in. I still owe $7500 on the 650F, so that is the minimum I would accept right now (and I am not likely to get it !).
I figure a year from now I will go back to buying used bikes until I find "the one" and then I will just buy the same bike new every 2 years.
Sorry for the thread-jack Hickey, I'm just addicted to bike shopping!
