Hi everyone! I just picked up a new 2008 GSX650F in black and silver. I got is last Saturday, 08/01/09. Between Saturday and Sunday, I have already put about 100 miles on it. I can't ride it enough. In fact, I'm sitting at my office daydreaming about going home to ride it. I love the way people look at this bike when I ride by. This is the biggest bike I ever owned. I rode a Honda Elite 150 scooter about 20 years ago. I took the MSF class originally in 1989. I re-took the class again a few months ago. That is the extent of my experience. Other than getting stuck in neutral a couple of times (I suspect it happened because I didn't downshift enough when coming to a stop and now thanks to your forum I know to roll the bike forward a tad if it happens again), I'm doing pretty good with this bike. My inexperience is my main limitation right now, I plan to practice, practice, practice!

Oh, I'm in a suburb of Detroit. I look forward to reading the discussions in this forum and hopefully meeting up with some other members.

Hey folks;

Been lurking for about a month or so, doing so research and some learning, before doing the plunge and getting a new 2009 GSX650F in the black and orange last weekend. I am a rookie rider to be sure, took the safety course in July and have done some riding in my neighbourhood (I live in the country so "neighbourhood" is a broad term here). Haven't done as much as I'd have liked as I'm still waiting for my jacket to be delivered and I'm dealing with, among the usual family & work stuff, a flooded basement and, as of yesterday, a garage and car that has been hammered by a few of the five trees that Mother Nature decided to knock over.....

I do love the bike and am spending time getting to know it and my own abilities, and plan, like haa21, to practice, practice, practice!

Hello, looks like tomorrow i will be bringing home a new 2008 gsx650f home, I test drove it yesterday and a ninja 250, the 250 was lots of fun but a toy compared to the 650.
I also have a 2006 fjr1300ae with about 29,000 miles on it. This will be my wife's 1 bike after she go's through the motorcycle safety class so i gauss i will have to brake it in lol.
I need to do some farkling on it first, like a center stand, sliders, bagster tank bag, like my fjr, just to start.
I paid $6850. out the door with 4.75%, so I should be able to double my payment and have it paid off in 3 years I hope.
Any way glade to be part of the forum.

I'll be picking my '08 GSX650F up on Monday from the dealer. $6200 OTD. This is my 10th bike in 33 years, but the first 4 cyl since my '82 Seca 650. This bike was actually my second choice as I was trying to find a new '08 SV650N to replace my '05 SV. There are evidently none to be had. I'm pretty happy the way things turned out...I think the GSX will be a great bike.

I picked up my '08 GSX650F last Saturday(8/15) for $6100 OTD. I've only managed to put 90 miles on it so far so I'm still being carefull with the tires, but so far I love it. Hopefully I can get some riding time in this weekend.

Hi All, I got my '09 GSX650F about 3 weeks ago - it's my first new bike ever and I'm loving it! I've own a 1200 Sportster and a few old old 70's era hondas in the past and must say this is the best ride I've had. Only about 500k on the bike so not broken in yet.

Hi everyone! Greetings from the great state of Oklahoma. Picked up my GSX on the 25th of July for a sweet $5600. A brand new black and silver 08 with 11 miles on it. Just finished the 600 mile service (myself, have the torque wrenches anyway) last weekend. She's got 824 miles on her now. Just too much rain and mud this month to get anymore miles on her. What a great bike, no regrets. And best of all, I haven't been to the chiropractor since I bought her and sold my Ninja 250. I miss the Ninja's lightweight to push around, but that's all I miss. I was very grateful for the "heft" in that 40 mph crosswind the other day. But nearly had heart failure writing that $287 check for the taxes and tags, boy. :?

I took the MSF two years ago. Guess it's part of my mid life crisis since I'm on the back side of 40 :!: I've become a fair weather bike commuter since the gas hike last year. I like it. Riding to work charges my batteries and helps to really get my day going.

Discovered this site a couple of weeks ago. Decided it was time to sign up.

Hi everyone, just found this site and joined. Got my GSX brand new on 1/3/09, done nearly 2000 miles on it. So easy to ride and comfy too, had a nice new custom seat made for it too. Mine's the classic blue and white one, although I really like the look of the orange one now, but it wasn't available when I bought mine. Anyway, still love riding it.

Hey guys!

I purchased a black/silver 2008 650F about 3-4 weeks ago. It was used with around 3400 miles on it, but it seemed to be in great working order and treated well by its former owner, so I bit the bullet.

I had a 2006 Ninja 250r before this bike, and the only thing that I can think of that I liked about the Ninja over this bike was its weight. I loved the lightweight, tossable nature of the Ninja. However, the 650F is by far more addicting as soon as you dip into the throttle a little. :) I've put roughly 800 miles on the bike already, and I have to say that I get a silly grin every time I take off full throttle from a stop.... I will never get tired of the acceleration this thing has.

I have to say that the best thing about this bike right now is its exclusivity. I have yet to see a single one of these bikes on the road within an area of 40-50 miles of where I live. This is a rare bike. I just pray that the secret doesn't get out. :P

This is an absolutely wonderful commuter bike and is a scream on back roads. It truly is the best of both worlds.

Hi guys,

I've been lurking for a month. Trying to decide for a couple of months what my first bike would be ( taking MSF course end of sept) choice was down to versys and gsx 650f. not to take anything away from the versys but I fell hard for 09 black and orange. Put a deposit down and will pick it up in 3 weeks $7,509 ( thats tax and NYS reg included) with a nice cover thrown in. I originally planned on buying used possibly something smaller, however, after seeing it in person all other arguments took a back seat. several weeks before I can pick it up and already feel like a kid on Christmas eve.

Hi Pops,
just read you're having a few niggly aches after a ride. I'm no expert by any stretch but here's my tuppence worth. I'm 6ft and 15 stone and getting older (but no wiser), and have to ride quite upright, (because of a back injury). The way for me to combat the aches and pains is to be as light on the bars as possible, keeping my elbows bent, locking myself into the bike with my knees and thighs which means there's little pressure on my neck, shoulders and back. You say you're a relatively new rider, (if not I apologise I just want you to get the best out of your ride), so your grip on the bars may be a little too tight, slow everything down by 10mph and relax and just check your posture and grip every now and again and if you've tensed up, ie your knuckles are white and you have no neck, just relax again 'till it's second nature.
hope this helps
jake
