I had about 7,000 miles on the stock tires and it was time for some fresh rubber. I went to my local bike shop and checked out their selection. After some haggling I decided on the Shinko Ravens. They are not a very common tire but I have heard good things from buddies of mine about these tires. I researched them and discovered that the Shinko company bought out Yokohama's motorcycle tire division and has all of their molds and patents. Anywho... I went with a 170/60-17 on the rear, so it is a little wider than stock.

For the price I paid, I am amazed at these tires.
Front- $91.00
Rear- $130.00
(free mounting and balancing)

The only downside I read about is the short life of the tires. This is due to the softer rubber, hence the tires being called "sport". I can only expect 4,500-5,000 miles on these. But with the grip and price, I would do it again. I love these babies.

So far I only have a few hundred miles on them, but the traction is phenomenal. Much much better than stock.

I would highly recommend these for anyone who can get their hands on them at a low price.

They do look nice, but I just don't think I could trust my ass to a Chinese made budget tire.

Like the tread pattern.

I am contemplating upgrading my tyres to Pirelli Angel STs. Still reading reviews and tossing up between them and Metezeler Sportec M3s.

I have increased the tyre size on cars, but is it safe to do it on a bike ??

I read about about getting bigger tyres when I had my cruiser and most people say it makes the bike
handle worse.
Harder to tip into a corners and really upset the bike ,with a much large rear wheel and a front that doesn't match.

yes I have heard the same thing about worsening handling with a really wide rear tire. I only increased 10mm... so 5 mil on each side... barely noticeable.
