So BikerBoy has a job interview in 2hrs. Kind of stressing a bit. Not sure if I'm biting off more than I can chew with this one.
Currently I work as the lead 3D Artist & Animator for one of Australia's biggest Arrchitects. It's a great job, comfortable and good money but I'm getting bored with it a little bit and one of the Senior Partners ( he's 1 out of 8 ) is being a real prick to me and has been for a few months. That prompted me to apply for this other job just to see what happened and try to line something up.
I'm going for an interview with a Governemt Endorsed Company who produce 3D Interactive Virtual Traning Software for the Medical, Chemical, Energy, Mining and Transport Industries on a worldwide basis. It's a lot more technically challenging than I've done for a while ( I am also a qualified fabrication Engineer) but it will be a good set up for my future career. Probably more motorcycle money too. I emailed my resume late one night last week and I had a reply at 9am the following morning saying please call the director ASAP. I called and set up an interview for today.
I'm thinking of maybe ditching my current job to try and start the other in the new year. Not 100% sure if I'm doing tje right thing or not.
What do you guys think?

Well, for what it's worth, I tell folks that it's not enough to want to leave a place of employment. Unless things are seriously wrong, that is, and that doesn't seem to be the case for you. It's best to have a reason to take another job.
It's a good sign that they called you right away. Wait and see what they have to say -- you'll know quickly whether the place itself has a philosophy that you can live with -- though it might be great experience to round out your resume, it might not be a great place to work and, on balance, not for you. Maybe where you're currently working isn't so bad.
Of course, maybe it'll be awesome and the dream job you've been waiting for.....
Once you're through the interview, you'll have a better sense in your gut how things will play out.

I agree with Sleddog. Do the interview though, that in itself is a challenge and you probably aren't the only one lined up.
I had 35 years with a bank and we came to an agreement, so i left. I was then a radiology wardsman in a large private hospital for a short time while also volunteering time to help raise funds for a helicopter rescue service. Now i am working as a metallurgical technician and loving it. Physical, dirty work at times, but the stress level is WAY down. The change was worth it.
Only you can make the choice BB, so good luck mate with whatever you decide. I hope my 2 bob's worth has been helpful.

Thanks for the input guys - WELCOME BACK PAPA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Interview went well I suppose. I was there for 3.5 hours. Had to produce some set samples in a time of 2hrs. Finished the whole thing which they were not expecting. No drama's over the money I asked for and the director asked If I was able to start sooner than I had planned or wanted. She said she would like to get me back in to meet the other staff properly I was given the usual "we still have more people to interview" and I gave her "I've got three other choices". Not a bad place to work too. Location is good and office is nice.
Cheers. BB

I saw one following behind reasonably close to me on the freeway. I recognised the front end in my mirror, slowed down a bit and moved over so he could come up beside me. Wrong. He nailed it past me and hammered it down the middle of the moving cars.
It was a black F. Maybe he was trying to prove that it went faster than my blue n white.

Thanks for the big welcome back BB I logged on occasionally while in WA, but didn't like to hog the family's computer too much (besides, my granddaughters were all over me)
Congrats on the new position.

Gee Bikerboy, when you decide to make a change you go all out......new job, considering a Hayabusa
Good luck with the job thing, if that's what you want. From reading your post it does sound promising for you.
Thanks BabyBusa.
If I dont go all out, I may as well not go at all.
Seriously looing forward to the Hayabusa, that ones a definate. It's my dream bike, so yes I'll be going all out with it. Need to wait until early/mid 2010 though. I'm planning to wait until I've got a decent budget to buy and mod at the same time. Until then I've got my eyes gluedto the Busa Forum, reading everything I can to get clued up on everything I need to know. It's a great site !!! I'm keeping the 650F still. No matter what, my 'F' is my first bike and it's going to the grave with me.
As for the job, see what happens. I've got some really good options, just need to work out which one is going to be the best for me.

Good jobs are hard to come by ,but the most thing I look for in a job is sort of a given they the job will always be needed. My wife has had 3 redundancies in the last 12 years {love the pay outs } ,but its really hard for her to get a job these days ,shes sort of middle management I guess ,but shes had one interview in the last 6 months , she has applied to any thing even answering phones at small real estate agents and nothing but ....sorry you didn't make the cut for a interview. Job security is a big thing these days. I got 3 months left of savings and the bike will be the first thing she says will go.

Funny, I was talking to a guy last week about the exact comment.
We both decided the correct reply is " It's okay honey, as long as we are getting rid of things I'd like to start with you. Considering the bike still has it's looks, I actualy enjoy listening to it, it's cheaper to run and I get to service it regularly."
There was an add in the paper last year that I saw too from a guy selling his BRAND NEW bike. It got emailed around. He gave full details on the bike and finished with "Aparantly when the wife says 'Do whatever the fuck you want' it does not mean buy a motorcycle.
On the serious side, I hope she finds something soon sleddog. It's not a good thing to be in her position and I'm sure she's feeling it pretty hard.
