I don't think the vest would work over here, cagers drive with their eyes closed, No seriously, great idea, they look pretty good as well, do they come with flashing lights and ship horns? We need them.

I havn't really considered a vest as 90% of my riding is out of town. But then there's always that other 10%, and that other 10% is the one that will get you.

Good points about winter and cages and investing in your own safety ..so we'll start a list for new riders and experienced riders and what they can do to help them selves against the enemy.
As lampie said a fluoro vet ...looks good that one as it zips up ,some of the other ones like I wear at work ,just have Velcro and they flap around in the wind. When buying a winter jacket ,check to see how many reflectors come as standard on the jacket ,one might look better ,but one might be safer ..your choice.
You can buy reflective rim tape as I have ,I even added some extra reflectors custom decals ,its fog season now for me ,I ride with about 10 meters or less visions on a 110kph freeway every morning or night.
You can add some reflector decals for your helmet also.
Any other tips or tricks people use.??

One finger on the horn, one finger flashing the high, one finger raised and ready. Works like a charm

I've been adding decals that are made from 3M reflective adhesive material. Some I bought pre-cut (the lightning bolts on my fairing) and the rest I have cut out myself with some A4 sheets that I bought. It works really well.
My Dainese jacket has reflective branding on it too which stands out really well. Just bought the new Dainese Tattoo jacket also but that has nothing........except total awesomeness.
I changed my stock bulbs out for better quality more visible light, and I've just bought some Proton LED turn signals that also work as running lights (don't know if they'll fit yet)
Putting a Yoshi TRC on, means people can now at least hear me which generaly makes them look for me.

I just recently upgraded my high beam headlight to the Sylviania Silverstar Ultra bulb. And I upgraded by tail light with the Kisan Tailblazer flashing brake light. I don't know how much better I am being seen, but I feel safer!

Nice vest. Personally i always wear mine - its the ICON from alaskanleather ( http://www.alaskaleatheronline.com/serv ... est/Detail ). Costs $55, and a whole lot more when i had to get it to the UK, but its well made, comfortable and has plenty of extra pockets.
Picture of me on bike wearing the vest.

I frequently use a tail bag. Added reflective strips to it. Here's pic.
I'd just use the big pumpkin you've got. Highly visible and hillarious
Surprised it took so long for someone to have a comment ............... But nobody noticed the exotic racing bike sitting on floor to the right? Can you believe that we managed to find room in that 1-car garage for a Solstice too??!!

Lightweight and allows freedom of movement and, with velcro strips on side, completely adjustable ..... though I did need to add to velcro strip so would work over riding jacket. Only problem with it is need to put on BEFORE helmet goes on .... which I forget to do alllll the time! Gonna see if I can install a zipper in the front. Gives wife big chuckle to see me try to sew!
