i got 55 mpg (us gallon ) at 120 kph, weght is not much more than the 650, insurance was $120 more than my 650 as it is classified as a touring bike, sold it so the girlfriend will tour with me on my cruiser, globs of torque, best bang for the buck in the touring segment by far, $ per hp is outstanding, the reviews for the gsf 1250 are amazing. Cheers and Merry Xmas to all. Snow and salt have hit here so no riding till the spring.... sob sob

I thought about it and for me, stepping up from a GS500, I think the 650F would be plenty for what I want to do, and maybe in 3 years or so I might look into swapping.

Still awesome news, though.
I have an '07 GS500F and an '08 GSX650F, I will never sell the GS500F...it's just too fun to ride (solo), 2-up I take the V-Strom. A 1200F would be like killing a knat with a bazooka as far as getting around and general transportation, I had a liter bike for a while, I always felt like I was all dressed up for a party...but couldn't go. ( I'm not saying I wouldn't mind burning up a few tanks on a 1200 though )

For me ... a big +1. Bigger isn't necessarily better no matter what we yanks usually say & do! But ... (now in daydreaming mode) ... the 650F in new white paint with ABS would surrrrrrrre be nice!!!

quote: According to an internal source, Suzuki will import no GSX-Rs or other streetbikes into the American market for 2010 as the unsold 2009 models on dealer floors are expected to satisfy demand. Overall, US motorcycle sales through the first three quarters of this year total just 434,370 compared to 771,950 during the same period last year, a drop of 44 percent. Suzuki has announced no new street models for the 2010 model year. We were unable to reach Suzuki for an official comment, but word has it 2010 models are available for order should dealer stocks unexpectedly be diminished.

Suzuki may not bring in 2010 street bikes to the US (I believe their biggest market), but it will cost them prestige, and sales. If Suzuki is the only dealerships with "leftovers", customers will gravitate to the other dealers. A lot of Suzuki dealerships will go under.
Although it is just a rumor (Suzuki has not openly confirmed it), Suzuki hasn't denied it, so there may be some truth to it.
I suspect that we will see some new 2010 model street bikes fairly early in the year (no point bringing them in after the spring - the best time for sales), or they will introduce the 2011s early.
Suzuki must know that there are people out there who are waiting for 2010 models purely because they want to own the newest thing on the market. These are the types who would pay the extra cash for such a thing.
On the other hand, it doesn't bother me one bit, I'm looking to get a 650F next year and if I happen to come across a left over '09 model at a discounted price, I'll snap it up at an instant. My only concern is dealers trying to sell old stock for new prices. Even if the bike is "new" realistically, they shouldn't be charging full price.
And then there's also the fact that the dealer around my area had very few 650F's last year, which makes me wonder just how many they'll have this year.

I find this a little odd.

Suzuki is bringing in 2010 models to Canada. The story of the embargo is just about the US market (the recession hit them harder).
