Following is a rendition of what went on between me and one of the scammers I played along with for a while. I'm putting this up as there was a bit of discussion on another thread about scammers and selling a bike over the interweb. It should be noted I had absolutely no intention of doing a deal I just wanted to string this Fucker along for a bit and have some fun. (I have a weird sense of humor)

So, read on if you wish

Quote:
ME (after receiving initial e-mail at my real addy on 26 Jan. that asked if my bike was still for sale. the phone nubmer in the initial mail only had 6 numbers and the e-mail was a gmail addy, easy give away. All this has gone on using a fake gmail addy):
buy my bike for $20,000 quickly as i am over seas and need the dollors.
payment will be by paypal to secure you safety and mine quickly and safely.

HER:
Thanks for the mail...as i am buying this for my Uncle and i am a petroleum engineer currently on a rig off shore i really want this to be a surprise gift for my Uncle so i wont let him know anything abt the this until it gets delivered to him , i am sure he will be more than happy with it.I insisted on PayPal because i don't have access to my bank account online here as i don't have internet banking, but i can pay from my PayPal account, as i have my bank a/c attached to it, i will need you to give me your PayPal email address so i can make the payments asap and pls if you don't have PayPal account yet, it is very easy to set up, go to www.PayPal.com.au and get it set up , after you have set it up i will only need the e-mail address you use for registration with PayPal so as to put the money through.I have a pick up agent that will come and pick this up after i have made the payments.

ME:
yes sounds good idea and uncle will love my bike. my paypla accound is collins10998@toughjob.na.uk please be sure to only ask for the amount i request for payment as i will be looking out for it. please agian make a reference to our talkings so i know it is of you once i recieve moneys how to go about shipping details

HER:
I was just about to pay when i had this problem with the pick up, my pick up agent says i will need to pay for the pick up before they can schedule a pick up time, they charged me $1,200.00 for pick up and delivery, and payments for pick up made through them is made to their corporate international headquarters which is in the united kingdom and the payments is made through western union money transfer, i will add the $1,200.00 to the money i will send through paypal as soon as i have made the payments, i will email you and let you know and please i will need you to help me send the money to my pick up agent Hq in the UK through western union money transfer, this can be done from any post office ,there is always western union money transfer section in most post offices(you can do it online as well at www.westernunion.com)..., i would have done it myself but as i am at sea and didnt bring my credit card aboard, i am a little incapacitated.....I will appreciate your help here.

ME:
pay nit by paypal to save time. it is easier and cheeper for us two that way maybe.
if all fails trying to pay your shipping agent by paypal then i will accept paying for you. add another $500 for my time helping you - i don't do your dirty work for free you know lol - remember to make my payment to my paypal which is waller10998@toughjobs.ne.uk

so total if you need me to pay my travbel agent will be 23,000 dollors

HER:

HER:

ME:
my calculator expects payment of $25,000. so it must be trusted.

HER:

HER:
ok,Thanks for your help i will send the payment very soon

A couple came in from what looked like PAYPAL
This email confirms that Carroll Rees has sent you $25,100.00 AUD
Payment Details: Transaction ID: 0TR19308DU070732T

We hereby want to assure you once again that the total sum of $25,100.00 AUD, will be credited into your account as soon as you provide us with the complete details of the western union money  transfer used to send the additional fund of $1,500.00 AUD meant for the item pick up to the buyer's pick up agent. We also want you to know that your money has already been deducted from the buyer's account and it cannot be returned back to him which means that it is secure with us but has been put on hold and will not be credited into your account until we receive the necessary details from you. The western union money transfer information's needed are the MTCN and the sender's name and address used to send the money. This information's will be given to you by western union after the money transfer has been done. The  western union transfer can be done online via www.westernunion.com or visit western union section at your post office.

We are sorry for any inconveniences this might have caused and we want you to know that the total sum of $25,100.00 AUD is ready and available to be credited into your account as soon as the necessary step is taken by you.

HER:
I have just made the payments now and i expect paypal to have emailed by now,i sent $25,100.00 in all, paypal said they would be holding the funds and it will not be credited into your account because of the excess payments of $1,500.00 i added meant for pick up and delivery, they said they have emailed you to this effect, i will need you to send an upfront payment of $1.500.00 out of your pocket to my pick up agent Headquarters via western union money transfer,so that paypal can credit the $25,100.00 into your account as soon as you have emailed the western union details to them, i added extra $100.00 to cover the western union charges which shouldn't be more that $80-90 but just to be sure i added $1,600,00 Here is the pick up agent info needed to get the money sent through western union money transfer:
Scott Nelson
rectory lane,
loughton IG10P 3RY
London
United Kingdom.

ME:
i have made money to scott in rectory lane london. when will my money be at my bank and when do you willing to transfer bike to travel agent

HER:
Thanks for mail, pls wot is all this get back to me with werstern union details so that i can no you have send the money because i got mail from scott that is not gut the money

ME (this was about 4 days after the first contact):
i have sent him moneys as you requested. maybe there is a lag in time between me sending payment and him seeing the moneys in his bank.
give scott a call and he will confirm moneys have been banked to his account as you have requested

what do you want me doing now so i can get bike to you for uncles gift.

The italliced bits are where the real scam is. You think all is above board and go to WU and get a payment made to the bloke mentioned and get a REAL number for the scammer. He then takes your money and finishes dealing with you. You never see the money for the bike or he does a return credit or what ever it is paypal call it. You usually get to keep your bike cause the scam never actually got that far but you have lost $1000-$1500 of your REAL money to a WU payment that does not exist.

Dear ,

We are very sorry for whatever this might have caused you but we are assuring that your account will be credited after sending us the western union details used in sending the $1,500.00 AUD and no more paying any more fees due to the message we receive from Carroll Rees so all you have to do now is to send the $1,500.00 AUD to his agent and get back to us with the details you get from western union so that we can release the pending fund with us $25,100.00 AUD into you account instantly after getting back to us with this details .This is due to the new protocols we are practicing.

This is also to protect both buyers and sellers and also to protect our name because our name in question here and there. This is also to notify you that this will be the last payment you will be making via western union.

As soon as this requested information is received you will receive a "Confirmation Email" from PayPal® Service informing you that your account has been credited with the sum of $25,100.00 AUD. All you have to do is to reply directly to this mail with regards to the Western Union details or send us an email at helpslinecenter@ consultant.com and our customer care service will attend to you.

You are save and protected by PayPal.
