Hi all, Looking for recommendations from Aussie riders.
Hubby and I are riding from Brisbane to Phillip Island this October for the Moto GP.
Very rough plan of route is: * South from Brisbane - stick to the coast down to Sydney * Spend a few days in Sydney (one day trip to ride Blue Mountains) * Continue down to Victoria and across to Adelaide (having a few days break in capital cities and of course riding Great Ocean Road)
After GP *ride north through Coober Peedy (maybe) * inland back up to Emerald * west to Yeppoon and back south to Brisbane.
Any reccs for "not to miss" places/ rides / great pieces of road to travel???

In Vic you 'must' do the Great Ocean Road, Arthurs Seat, Black Spur, Reefton Spur and Great Alpine way. I live about 40min away (by bike) from the Island so I'm happy to meet up and take you through the areas. From the direction your coming, basicaly follow the area's I wrote but in reverse order.
Lots of sight seeing and attractions through all the area's. The list would go for a while so when you have a more planned route let me know and I'll tell you all available along that path.
If you can find a copy, I recommend the 'Bitchin Bitumen' road book for touring Australia - roads and conditions, petrol stops, distances etc...all worked out.

Hi Loz,
When coming through NSW, put the "Old Road" (the Pacific Hwy - not the F3) on your itinerary. Takes you from Gosford to Sydney via some nice scenery over the Hawkesbury River and establishments such as Road Warriors Cafe and Pie in the Sky.
There are also some very nice roads north leading in to Gosford.
