Just passed 1200 miles this morning on my ride to Payson, Arizona. For those of you not familiar with this road - it is one of the best rides in AZ with a combination of long straight aways and fast mountain curves. Since the engine is now completly broken in I was able to really open her up. Wow what an engine - smooth linear power all the way to 12.5k redline - engine seamed like it wanted to go to 15k. Hit redline in all 6 gears on a long straight away . Bike pulls hard even in 6th gear - I know not like a Busa or R1 but I can buy two of these bikes for the price of those crotch rockets and my insurance in only $250 a year! Rode 80 miles without stopping and felt great, I could have ridden another 100 miles. Was able to get 45 mpg even with right hand programmed for WFO :D . I have ridden many different bikes over the years from Ninjas to Honda cruisers and everything in between. This is by far my favorite bike, love the ridding position, fuel injection, handling and looks of a sport bike without the price and insurance premium. Long live the the GSX650F !!!! Now all we need is the aftermarket to catch up.
Happy motoring
Dwayne

Hi Dwayne,

Sounds great!! What speed were you doing when you redlined 6th ? (if you looked of course, think i'd have been glued on the furthest point that wasn't moving!)

135 showed on the speedo - this was at 60° F on perfectly flat road - no wind

Dwayne, I live in the Queen Creek area! Did you ride up to Payson on your own or with a riding group? I had a chance to ride last weekend (5/30) up to Payson with my riding group but I couldn't because I had to work. I did meet up with my group up at the Conoco gas station where the Fort McDowell casino is located on SR87. There was another group that joined them - about 20 sportbike riders altogether. Here are a couple pics of the meet up just prior to the ride up to Payson:

my bike is in the middle (the black and silver one with the red wheel stripes)

My group is doing the Globe/Roosevelt Lake/Fountain Hills run this weekend. I can't go to this one either because I am in California with family hanging out at Disneyland. So the only ride I'm going on this weekend is Space Mountain. lol

I have been looking for another 650F locally so that I could compare notes with him/her. We'll need to get together and do that! I haven't gone anywhere near redline on mine so it will be good to chat with someone who's pushed its limits.
:D

As of yesterday (6/5) I'm at 2008 miles.

Hey Glenn,
Did the Payson run last Sunday with a couple cruiser buddies of mine from work - still had fun with slow Hogs holding me back he he  . I live in Mesa not far Saguaro Lake at Thomas and Power roads. I would sure like to ride with you guys if you let me know when the next ride is. What is the riding group called?? Are they organized or just a bunch of guys that get together?? This Sunday or next Sunday me and a friend from work might be doing the Globe run (he has a CBR900) - he is not sure.
