I don't know anything about the iphone app, but here's a couple sites devoted to biking routes:

I'm game, I'll try it out and give some feedback.

OK, I got the app and I can say pretty cool for $7. The features are nice and easy to use, you can call up others routes, ride em and give send back your rating, route review and comments like road hazards...the entire community can then see your report. You can also easily create your own routes and save, share, send email, etc. I'll wait for the weather to turn in the PNW to fully test out the GPS but from home it appears to only be off about 20 feet. Again, just $7.

Update. Found myself in the middle of almost nowhere a few weeks ago. Stopped to get coffee and used the app to find a route that maybe I hadn't found before. Low and behold, the app had one near by and the route was well worth it, nothing but twisties for about 2 hours. The developers are talking about adding route planning to the app, GPS start point where you are at then it maps the route you ride. It may be already available in a new release but I haven't checked yet. I have to say worth the $7 and can't wait to take it out of state where I am less familar what roads to go look for.
