Well planning a 1400+ km ride from Ontario Canada to the east coast and back ,at the end of June. Not looking to buy a completely new seat. Just looking for a little more cushion on my hind side. Anyone with any (cheap) suggestions.

Air hawk ,is cheaper then a new seat and VERY VERY VERY good...and you will have it for the rest of you touring and riding life.
Where a new seat for every new bike will cost you mega dollars over the rest of your riding life.
1400km ride a sheep skin cover will be enough ,it is for me. 8)

Beaded seatcover (like you see taxi drivers use, only smaller).

I heard placing a folded up towel on your seat can make it more comfortable as well.

If you have a few days, and don't consider a $100 or so with shipping too expensive, you may want to check out

He'll take the stock seat and change the padding in it based on how you sit on the bike. You may want to look at the site and ask him. His target turn around is 48 hours.

If you are interested in the beaded seat covers, the ones made just for bikes are called "Beadrider" (in case you want to google it). They look completely naff but I figure 10 million taxi drivers cant be wrong. I've yet to try it myself though.

One of the considerations that is often overlooked is that you also need to think about ventilation to stay cool and dry. Beadriders, Airhawks and sheepskin seat covers all solve this problem.

Never meet a taxi driver that was right  .....but on the up side ,as soon as you add the seat cover you automatically take the long way home.

+2 The new padding is a night and day difference. Spencer provides an outstanding service at a reasonable price.
