I'm selling my Black (the one TRUE color!) '08 cuz the wife got laid off a few weeks ago. If any of you are looking for one or know someone who is please pass along the info.
It's on Craigs List in the NoVa/Washington D.C. area...
[Admin-I didn't see a "classifieds" area so I posted it here.]
Thanks all! I love the bike and have been very happy with it. I commute on it when the weather cooperates as it gives me HOV lane access. I'd buy another one (and plan to!) once the current financial situation clears up.
OK, so the day I put it up on CragsList two other people put theirs up also! So I waited a bit and re-posted it. The bike is still for sale and I dropped a few hundred bucks off the price if anyone is interested.
I have been thinking of selling my Black 08 also, it only has 2800 miles on it, but after reading how cheap they are selling for I just don't want to give it away, it's paid for the only reason for me wanting to sell it is because I hardly ever ride it. I installed a new carbon fiber slip on muffler and taken very good care of it. It's sad that they loose value so fast, I would not let mine go for anything less then $5000.00, it's not worth giving it away!

During a recession, the first thing that people give up is their toys. Motorcycling is primarily a recreational activity in North America, so it makes sense that the supply of used motorcycles would go up in a recession, and the demand down. This is why the prices are so bad (lots of people selling, few buying).
I suspect that you would be able to get another grand or two if the economy was doing better (average selling price for an excellent condition 2008 is about $4,000).

It doesn't make sense to sell it if there is nothing wrong with it, and you are enjoying it. Problem is in a recession many people (like the OP) are selling because they have to.
As well, MANY people get into motorcycling on a whim, without really knowing whether it is for them or not (Just take a look at all the bikes for sale with less than 5,000 miles or 8,000 km on them). It doesn't make sense for them to hold onto something they aren't using, even if they are losing money (if they did they would lose even more money).

What's worse than having to sell your bike? Loosing your licence for 6 months and walking past it each day to get a ride to work with the misses while it screams 'ride me', 'ride me'

resale of any bike is not good now and our 650 does not hold value at all. So keep 650, i know with what did to mine it a keeper plus bought with cash.

Congrats on the almost new bike.
Just make sure that there isn't any rust in the tank (it's 2 1/2 years old with very few miles, so it has done some "sitting").
