Guys,
How frequently you wash your GSX, what do you use and how you wash?
I wash (at least try to) once in every 2 weeks.
I use the following:
Rain X car wash, Turtle wax wheel cleaner, Turtle wax bug remover, DuPont Degreaser, PJ1 chain cleaner and lube, Armor All, Rain X Windshield cleaner, a soft brush for wheels, a soft sponge, Chamois leather and lots of terry clothes
I wash in the following order:
1. Apply degreaser to sprockets & greasy non-paint areas and clean chain using PJ1 chain cleaner
2. Clean wheels
3. Remove bugs if any using bug remover
4. Wet the bike using low power water hose, apply car wash liquid gently using soft sponge all over the bike
5. Wash off the bike with water, dry with Chamois leather for painted surface and Terry cloth for non painted surface
6. Apply Rain X Windshield cleaner and Chain lube
7. Apply Armor All
The last but not least, take her out for a happy ride!!!

Wash bike???????. Never done that :D . Most likely wouldn't fit in the machine  , and if it did would most likely shrink (turn into a 250) :? . Really, a quick (no more than 5 mins.) wipedown with microfiber cloth and Pledge. Maby I'm just lazy :o , maby brain dead :( ? Seriousley, if you have got this washing thing down I'll pay up to 25$ if you are close enough.Ride safe, and often---Luke

every couple hundred miles, I bust out the microfiber, and ICE detailer spray. works on the wheels, the aluminum, whatever it touches. granted, I don't use the side panels, heh! Whenever it starts to look crumby, I first use meguire's Ultimate Compound to knock out every little swirl, then the same brand cleaner wax, to finish up. the microfibre however REALLY works on the bike. I can't speak enough about it.

Roadtrip Bob ... Roadtrip!! I can fit a couple of six packs in my saddle bags for payment.

Typically I wait until the student group on campus holds a fund raiser and teams up with a sorority. Then like any good dirty old man I donate my $5 then sit back and watch.

I wash and polish every couple of weeks,
1. Blast with hose
2. Degrease
3. Hose off
Have a bourbon
4. Remove bugs and tar
5. Wash with Meguiars Hyperwash
6. Hose off
7. Dry
Have a bourbon
8. Polish with Meguiars NXT Tech Wax 2.0
9. Do plastic trim and tires with Meguiars Trim Detailer
Have a bourbon
10. Clean mirrors and other clear plastic with Meguiars Plastic cleaner
11. Polish chrome bits on exhaust

5 hours later sit back (with a bourbon) :D and only think about riding her as i don't get my licence back for another 5 months :( :( :(

Windex has ammonia in it, and ammonia will eat plexi and plastic. Do NOT use Windex.

I have used Lemon Pledge on my motorcycles and airplanes since the 1980s. It removes bugs, leaves a bit of a wax (so that they don't stick so badly next time), doesn't harm plexiglass, and is relatively cheap. My 1986 Goldwing has NEVER been sprayed with a hose -- Pledge (and occasional Turtle wax) is the only thing that has ever touched it. It looks exactly the same as it did when I got it, 22 years ago.

The pump spray stuff is best, but the aerosol Pledge works, too. Just make sure it's Lemon -- not "Orange" -- Pledge. The orange stuff is way too oily.
