Maybe I'm not understanding how you did this,,, so if this is the same, please excuse. Today I rode with a Bandit 1250S and 09 GSX650F, at our last coffee break, we are checking out various thngs that had been done to the bikes (they are virtually identical btw), the guy with the bandit, has lowered his pegs 1.5" and moved them forward by 1". He did it by loosening the unit, pulling it partially our, then rotating it upside down, then taking off the peg, turning it back right side up, and re-tigthening. he says all you need is an allen key, and something to pull the c-clip from the bolt holding the peg in place. We checked my gsx-f and it looks like it is exactly the same.
I took 4"x6"x1/4" aluminum flat stock, removed the whole peg assembly and mounted it to the flat stock, then mounted the flat stock to the bike spacing it out away from the bike about 2-3 inches, you can see in the pics I used the same mounting holes in the bike to mount the flat stock to, only about 4" farther forward than stock, I had to make some support brackets at the front of the flat stock, but no big deal, there are plenty of holes to mount things to, especially on the shifter side, it is still a work in progress as I am finding ways to clean up the design and mountings,, I am 57 and can not do the crotch rocket lean any more due to past vehicle mishaps and stupid stuff,, anyway thats the story,,, later,, DaveG

Am I the only one here who thinks the bike is more prone to crash lowered and with the pegs lowered and forward? Sure it might look cool and may seem more comfy to some. My brother can only ride cruisers due to a vein removal in one leg (heart bypass), requiring a more relaxed leg position. But he also lives in Florida (Orlando) where there are no curves, so it works well. Once a bike starts scraping hard parts in some serious twisties, however, it is robbing traction from the tires just like sticking a lever under it. While I agree that this fact would indeed cause one to slow down due to fear, what about when you accidentally overshoot that drastically reduced performance envelope a little and need just a bit more lean angle? I've seen plenty of cruisers go wide on the Dragon because they ran out of room, and it scares me to be behind one that is being pushed hard a lot more than being behind a rapidly disappearing sport bike, and meeting one head on in my lane is also a concern. Ground clearance is a Good Thing. I submit that sport bikers might cross the line from doing something stupid, but cruisers often do it because of their limitations more than anything else. Somethings you have to unexpectedly dial in more lean due to debris in the road, etc.

I'd be interested to know how you modified the gear shift. And did you have to extend the brake pipe? Maybe you could take a pic of the finished flatstock with some dimensions? Or am I just being lazy? Re above - I don;t see why moving footpegs forward would affect control - lowering them (and lowering the bike) will reduce clearances at extreme angles of lean - but surely we are smart enough to allow for that. or maybe Dave is right and some of us aren't!

OK, HERE'S HOW IT IS, yes the pegs are lower, about 3/4 inch, the bike is lowered 1.5 inches, yes the bike is more prone to dragging hard parts and crashing, I rode for 3 days on Deal's Gap 30 times and over 750 miles in that area, I am 57 years old and not some hot rod retard that is not in control of his bike at ALL times, not one time did I run wide into the other lane because I was entering a corner to fast, and when some one pulls out in front of me I will crash and I may die, well so be it, some day everyone learns they have limits, and you do what you have to, so you don't spend your life worring about what if,,, I also ride my sons ZX10R like a complete fool, but I do it on back roads where the only one I will hurt is my own stupid self, I also fly airplanes, sail sail boats and drive very fast cars, I have limits, my motorcycle has limits, and I control them, I am in control of these limits, I do not worry about what I cannot control, or I would never get out of bed,,, life is short and sometimes it sucks, so there I have vented, if you read this whole post you will see pictures and the reason I can't make a kit to lower anyone's pegs but my own, thanks for listening, ride safe have fun, Daveg

Oh ya, forgot, I almost did get killed on Deal's Gap, by a FREAKING Yellow Porsche in my lane on a down hill S curve, at the last second he jerked into his lane and missed me maybe by a foot as I was about to jump straight up off my bike, as I was not going to drive off the side of a mountain.. Now that's fun kiddies... Daveg
