Today I took the step and bougt a new bike, and it's not even a Suzuki. :o

The choice fell on a almost new Yamaha TDM 900. It's only demo driven, and has 155 km on the counter.
It's a 2008 model, but will be registred for the first time now. That means 5 year warranty. :D

Here's a link to the add with pictures: http://www.finn.no/finn/mc/used/viewima ... e=25408971

I'm picking it up in a week.

I haven't been here long, but I'll be checking in from time to time.

Hey there Snikk......so will you be keeping or selling your Suzuki? If you are selling it...may I ask you why you changed bikes? Did you find anything wrong with the 650F?
Steve

I traded the GSX in when I bought the TDM 900.
I wanted to change bike because I wanted a bit more upright riding position, a bit more power, and a bike that could handle bumby roads better.
Because of my back, I could only do 300 km rides a day, but with the TDM I can do 700 km easy.

It also handles twisties better I think. I can ride faster through a corner with my TDM. I think better ground clearance and a bit less weight is the main reason for that.

Riding 2 up is much better on the TDM. The engine is just much stronger. The HP is about the same, but I've got about 50% more torque.

I've had the bike for just short of 4 months, and I've done almoast 13000 km so far. The TDM is a great machine, and I don't see myself changing bikes again anytime soon.

Great choice, the TDM. A mate has one and loves it.

I was weighing one up myself for quite awhile (over here we can park on footpaths and unfortunately a Fandit can't be dropped off a curb). Suzi won coz I liked the idea of a bit more weather-protection on the legs with the fairing, but mostly coz wifey had me on a tight budget-leash.

Enjoy the new ride!

Cheers, Matt

Hey Snikk.....I've got a bad back myself. Is the gsx650 quite hard on your back????

For everyday riding, the 650F wasn't too bad on my back, but more than 2-3 hours riding was a problem for me.
For people with bad backs the bike has a lot to say in how comfotable it is to ride. And it also depends in what sort of back problems you have.

As I love motorcycling, I wanted the oportunity to ride as much as I wanted, not how much my back wanted. For me the solution was a more upright riding position, and now I can ride as much as I want.
The longer suspension travel also helps. It's much smoother on bumpy roads (wich we have a lot of in Norway, especially in the beginning of the season).

I also tried the BMW F 800GS before I bought the TDM. Also a great bike, but as I'm only about 5'9, it was a bit big for me. I also got a better feel with the front tyre on the TDM (19") than on the GS (21").

www.cycle-ergo.com is a great site to get an indication on what riding position you'll have on different bikes.
