Hello all,

I know there are already some topics about this issue but I'm hoping some more people have new ideas. I just installed the power commander (alot easier than I thought) and hooked it up to my computer. All I have found where the stock and zero maps. I'm interested in getting a sport setting and fuel economy setting.

I heard people say to get it dyno'd but does or has anyone made any custom maps themselves? Also I did notice my F1 light was flahing a few times while it was hooked up to my computer..... If you have any installation questions I can probably help, as far as programing I'm hoping someone can help me.

Thanks guys

Doesn't the company you bought it from have a map for your set up (they say they do)? From my experience with my SV1000S, I don't think you want 2 different injection maps- the injection is either right or it isn't. Make it too lean and it doesn't run well. The ignition timing is another animal, and different "modes" would probably work there, but on our 650Fs, why? The PCIII only affects the FI. Since I've had my Scorpion exhaust, my 650 has surged a bit in the lower gears and I have been angling towards a PCIII to fix that.

EDIT: Added a link that I was ment to add the first time

Skeet,

There doesn't seam to be too many maps for the PC3 when fitted to a GSX650F so far. My suggestion is spend the money on tuneing by someone that knows their shit and uses a dyno to prove/check their work. Remember to ask for before and after runs including A/F ratios. Personally if I'd gone the PC3 route I'd use the tune and dyno way regardless as it proves the work as opposed to a map you download which could be (not saying it is) any old crap.

Dave23,

If you bike is hunting/surging first thing to do is get a tune done. Don't get a PC3 yet. Check DTC's for any problem, get TPS adjusted properly and TB sync done. Then once you've done that if you are after hi HP then look into PC3 etc. If not consider a bike shop that has something like this as the standard ECU can have a fueling adjustment 10% either side of 0 done. (ie -10% lean to +10% rich). Getting (and confirming) your fueling back to 0 is also a good idea.

ok, here is my two bits,

I just installed a PCIII two weeks ago and found the same thing, there is not but the zero map and the stock everything map available, for a starter i went with the stock everything map because its a bit better that the zero map.

I then went out and located a stretch of road that was 1.5 miles long, straight and flat, then came the interesting part, i just stent about an hour going up and down the road, each lap i made i went a bit faster feeling for holes and flat spots in the map, when i found them i would pull off on the side of the road and adjust the PCIII with thr three buttons on the front of the unit. I did this until i had gone through all the gears 1st through 6th and all the way from idol to redline in each gear. It took some time to do, but let me tell you, what a HUGE difference it made.

Now i am going to list the mods that i have made to my bike and if you have similar mods to mine i would be glad to send you a copy of my map if you would like it.

I have a scorpion CF slip on, i have a K&N air filter, and i have done the PAIR valve mod.

if you want a copy of my map just let me know and send my your email in a PM and i will be happy to send it to you, that goes for any of the rest of you guys that have a PCIII as well.

Hey NorCalHunter

After reading your post am thinking about the PCIII. How much of a differnce does it really make though, can I ask where are you finding the changes most noticeable, ie what rev range/speed/gear.

thanks

Dan

Avon, i notice the biggest difference in the mid to high RPM range, but even in the low end RPM range there is a noticable difference, now that being said i just want to say that i did all of my mods at the same time. I went from a stock bike to, my current configuration in one afternoon, so there was a huge step up for me, if you are already rolling with the airfilter and exhaust the difference might not seem so extreme, but i am very confident that you will feel a pretty big increase in performance.

I love my PCIII and would recomend this mod to anyone who has come from a true sport bike to the 650f and is just looking to get a bit more zing out of the top end but keep the comfortable riding position and lite touring capabilities that we all love so much about the 650f.

I just installed a PCIII and expected to feel quite a difference but haven't. This is on a restricted version of the GSX650F in Australia. I spoke off the record with some people and they said that a PC would not only improve it but would make it more powerful than the unrestricted bike. I would have thought that would be quite noticeable as the restricted bike is only about 32bhp.

I'm wondering if the unit is working right. I did have some problems splicing the grey wire in to the TCU but the software does show the throttle changes when I test it. I also had to download the new software off their web site before the PC would talk to the software.

The notes section in the software does say 'Suzuki GSX650F stock exhaust and air cleaner' so I assume that's the map it's using? Is that correct.

I also put a Yoshi pipe on a couple of days ago and I haven't had the bike on a dyno since installing the PC.

Anway, would appreciate feedback/info from other if you have any suggestions.

Cheers.

IMO you need to get your bike to a tuner with experience with PC3 and dyno tuning to get the best results

Not knowing how Suzuki restrict the bike what follows is purely theory, but here goes.
Perhaps Suzuki restrict the bike by putting in a line of code that goes something like this

info from bike into ECU -> ECU deciphers info and decides to create output to bike (for this example lets say it is fuel load) -> (still in ECU) subtract 50% from output so as to meet restriction -> send info to bike

Perhaps with your restricted bike + PC3 with zero map there is absolutely no change to the bikes performance as the PC3 isn't doing anything yet.

Darrell, I'm very interested in how our bike goes during tune etc. I'd love to see before and after dyno runs of both HP and torque outputs. I'll leave this up to you tho as I know how much dyno time costs.

good luck and keep us posted.

I'm not using a zero map (at least I don't think so). The PC3 was preloaded with a map for the bike with standard exhaust and standard air filter. I plan on having the bike tuned but I can't afford the time or money to do before/after tests I'm afraid.

I've sent a message to Powercommander abotu this as well so I'll keep you informed. But I did have info from a very good source (virtually from the factory but off the record of course) that a PC3 would return the bike to full power and indeed a bit more than the unrestricted bike. So I do think something is not right with the current installation.

I'll let you know in a week or so after I get more info and the tune-up.

Cheers.

I have noticed there is a few peeps running the leo vince evoII. Leo vince claims their cans are tuned for maximum performance with stock settings. One has two wonder if buying another pipe, a powercmndr and then spending time at a shop is a good investment. I would very much like to see the differences on a dyno, even though I chose too buy the leo vince and stay mostly stock.

Just DL'ed the maps from the dynojet site and opened them to take a look at the info.
The info looks the same apart from a lot of zero's in the 'standard pipe and air filter' map. These zero's could mean anything in the code I've not looked further into it yet

given that you have a restricted bike and the 'standard exhaust and air filter' map is for a unrestricted bike I wonder if the PC3 is just adding 2% (for example) to your map thereby giving you no real improvements

You could always DL a map for the 1250 bandit and try that  (just jokes :P , don't do it unless your prepared for the outcome - of which I don't know what will happen)

You seemed to have missed the point that it's a restricted bike. Adding a power commander to it here in Australia takes it from the restricted 32bhp settings to the full power of the bike which is what you would have in the USA or in the UK where you get an extra ECU to install after you have your non-learners license. I think that's somewhere around 80+bhp. Quite a difference.

So yes, I'd say that's a much better investment than the cost of selling the bike and buying another one. Which is exactly what you have to do here in Australia.

Cheers.

In the case of it being a restricted bike sure I totally agree with you. But i was aiming my comment toward peeps who do not have a restricted bike.. as I am sure the thread starter does not have a restricted bike.

How do you like the Leo Vince? I'd sure like to hear from other riders about this. As I said, my bike is restricted via the ECU due to learner requirements here in Australia (which have worked very well in saving lives according to the stats).

Anyway, I put a Yohi R77 on last week and the bike runs noticeably better. It's much smoother in acceleration and engine braking. I really noticed the difference. It's like the bike doesn't work as hard to get up to the higher RPMs.

So I'd be very interested in hearing the experiences of others.

Cheers.
