Hopefully I'll again be a productive member of society soon ..... i.e., have a job!
Am looking forward to adding some electrical "stuff" to the bike. couple 12v outlets heated grips heated jacket liner? blinking rear brake light led's etc.
Am bit of a "neatness" freak. So ................... looking for appropriate way to hookup these electrical thingys. I don't know anything about electricals.
Seems that "fuse box" approach makes sense. a switched relay that provides power when ignition key turned on. a centralized "box" where all the elec add-ons are wired to, with appropriate fuse protection.
Am I on the right track? Recommendations as to component specs for this "fuse box" approach and where to get them?
Thanks!

Good starting point. Use a relay and fuse to make one switched 12V lead to the front. I use this to power Xenon low-beam 35W (not usting the stock 12V lead) Heated grips 40W and my 12V outlet for GPS navigation .

I just purchased one of these: http://www.fuzeblocks.com/ They are a little more then some other options, but they are an "all in one" product. They have a built in relay, ground bar, and you can change whether the accessary is key activited or always hot by the position of the fuse, so you can change your mind depending on the situation ie: GPS unit. This thing is small, really small, which allows for many mounting options and appears to be very well built. (not associated with this product in any way, other then it's going on my bike shortly)

perhaps have a look at something like this if your not all that electrically minded (or just don't want to do it yourself) looks very neat and tidy, well made and reliable it has everything you'll need if you get the fuse panel and the relay kit. doesn't look to be badly priced either

What do you use to power the relay? I need to do this for my heated grips which presently can be left on when the bike is not running (I have done it twice so far). I was thinking of running it off the rear light.
Also, which "size" fuse would I need? It would only be for my heated grips which I imagine are all pretty much the same.

I got Centech's AP-1 fuse box. It's 7x6x3cm. Where ya recommend it be attached?
When you hook this stuff up beware .... the dealer hooked up my heated grips on my Bandit 1250 to direct power, key on or off, and my cig adapter would only work with the key on, left the grips on ... flat battery, need the phone charged or want to do something to my GPS, cant unless the bike is turned on ..dumb. It was changed soon as i relised what they had done. I woul mount the box under the seat if you have the room or under the fairing, cant see it, out of the elements, just watch the heat from the motor.

Put fusebox under seat bolted to that shelf where Suzuki puts bike's tool kit ... keep tool kit in tank bag. Wired gps & "cig lighter" to battery. Stebel horn wired to fusebox. Good golly that horn is LOUD!!!
