G'day All,
As you may or may not know, the other day i installed some foot peg risers on my bike... This is the first mod I've made on her for a little while that requires some frame work, and i forgot how soft and shit the stock bolts on this machine are!

After rounding out 2 of the cap head bolt that holds my foot pegs on to the bike, whilst UNDOING the damn thing (lefty tighty righty loosey isnt it??? 0_o), i lost my shit. Just about threw the entire bike over the back fence! I had to drill one of the fuckers out of there and chuck a tap through the frame, as there was no way in hell my allan key was going to bite into the head! Either these bolts are made from cheese, or Suzuki have employed some form of giant gorilla to assemble this bike at the factory!

It was then that i remembered (in between my fits of rage) one of my mates telling me that he has found a company that does full stainless steel bolt conversions for most Japanese sports bikes... He couldnt remember the name of them, but I did a quick search and ound these blokes http://www.probolt-australia.com/stainl ... p48S7KBWuI

Just wondering if anyone has used these blokes? Or (more preferably) if someone knows of another group that do this sort of thing a little bit cheaper than this? You can buy individual kits, i.e, fairing kits, engine bolt kits, new axle nuts and so on, but i thought i may as well do the whole bike in one hit... SOme of the stock ones are starting to get rusted, or are already a little rounded out etc... Any way, any input would be appreciated...

I ordered up a set of titanium caliper pins from probolt based on what they recommended for our bike. The front pins fit and worked fin. The rear pin did not. I have another rear pin to try, but have not yet. I had to search out what I think is the correct pin myself. Probolt was no help. I don't think the kit you listed includes any bolts for the brakes.

I went out and installed the new pin while it wasn't raining too hard, and it fit fine. In case anybody is interested, the probolt part numbers you need are, TIPINBP007-2 for the front calipers, and TIPINBP001 with TIPINGRUB for the rear caliper. Part numbers TIPINBP003R and LSSPINBP003R, specified by probolt for our bike, will not work.

Stainless bolts aren't all there hyped to be. They need anti-seize always or they will gaul up going in or taking them out, while tough they are not as strong as a standard grade 8 cap screw, period. I am a tool & moldmaker with 30+ years experience. We don't use them unless they are in a rust prone environment due to there low strength rating.

Don't believe me look up the strength rating for cap screws versus SS capscrews.

Yeah mate, i believe you, but its not so much the tensile strength im worried about, its more how easy it is to round the stock fuckers out... And although I'm a fanatic when it comes to chammoisting my bike off after i wash it, i notice some of the bolts are starting to runs a bit... I do do a fair bit of wet weather riding though 0_o... So that could be it... I dont think it's worth me paying 300 and something dolalrs to replace every bolt for though... I think i'll just do what I'm doing now and replace each set of bolts with stainless as they need to be changed... Or i could just buy the fairing kit... That'd probably get me out of trouble... Anti sieze is no troubles what so ever in my proffession! I use it, lube (take that as you see fit), degreasers, and many other similar products like its going out of fashion :D

I was just hoping there would be a chaeaper kit out there, as a mates fully faired SV cost him just over $150.00 for a full stainless steel conversion... But that company doesent do the F or the 1250 Bandit unfortunately...

Dashy, I have dealt with Pro-Bolt Australia quite a bit and the owner (Tristan) has helped me out on many occassions.
He's a great guy to deal with and certainly knows his stuff (he was Wayne Gardiners mechanic for several years!!)
I'm fairly local and have been to the shop a few times (It's not just Pro-Bolt - Redline Motorcycles in Dandenong, Vic) and always get great service.

I've got quite a few titanium bolts and bits from them in my Hayabusa.

Funny timing, this - someone on NR has posted a HUGE rant about pro-bolt, and Tristan especially today!
Apparently the quick-release fairing bolts are too long to sit flush, so he asked for a refund.
Sent them back and now they won't answer his calls or return his emails etc...

The guy complaining is a vendor who sold me my Kevlar jeans, too, so I kinda trust him...

Strange!! Tristan has always been more than helpful with me. He's even thrown in some freebies that I forgot to order and also
gone out of his way to platinum express post some spacers for me that I needed FAST at no charge. I've returned bolts that
were wrong (my screw up) and was given a refund without question. Got nothing but good service from him each and every time.
Considering the guy on NR has posted a HUGE rant pretty much puts it into perspective for me though.

I'm really curious to how you can trust a guy just because he sold you some jeans....seriously??? Wanna buy some Dainese Full Racing leathers off me. lol.

I won my first pair in a vendor comp, and was so impressed I went back and bought a second pair.
I spoke to Tak via PM on a Friday, telling him I'd place my order on the following Tuesday when my pay came in...
Lo and behold, the new pair turned up on Tuesday morning, before I'd actually ordered or paid for them! When I spoke to him he told me that "he knew I was good for it", so he didn't see a risk in shipping off early...

Now, when a vendor who doesn't actually know me places trust in me like that, I can only repay him with my own ;)

Well if there's one thing I've found in my last few years in sales, it's that you cant impress 100% of people, 100% of the time... Mistakes happen. Some people accept it, others don't take it so well... I'd never get to the point at my job where i don't return phone calls or emails mind you... Some people are just hard to pleae i spose... I think i'll be getting the fairing bolt kit anyway... All my little cap heads are starting to round out. If they fit, then I'll just replace each section of the bike with kits as i require/roundout/when they need replacing... I'm happy to give them a go. They seem like a pretty reputable company :D
