Hey guys, has anyone else had the following problem?
I recently (March) Installed a brand new carbon fibre Yoshimura R77 exhasut on my 2010 GSX650F, as per instructions. I then inserted the decible damper baffle into the exhaust can. It was a tight fit and did not need the retaining screw (which fell into the liner of the exhaust can anyhow! LOL) however, after 1500km, when I removed the baffle, only the outer ring of the baffle came out! THe perforated metal body of the baffle had become seperated and slid down into the curve at the throat of the inlet pipe as it enters the exhaust can! I now have to remove the exhaust assembley in order to remove the insert body!

The reason for the retaining screw is so that when the exhaust is hot, and the metal expands, the insert does not slip out of the outer ring. I have the TRC Yoshimura but they work exactly the same way. I dropped the screw for mine inside the exhaust, but I managed to get it out with a bit of fiddling around.
So yes, to get the insert out you will need to remove the muffler from your bike and slip it out that end, then if you want it back in the muffler make sure that you use the screw (or another that fits) to hold it in place so that it does not slip out again when warm.

you alway have to put the screw!!!! i put a little of glue in the allen key when i remove the screw, its a pain in the ass when you drop the screw inside!!!! i know!!!

Thanks guys! I finally took the pipe back off, removed the baffel screen and collar, removed the screw plug (I had already dropped the screw inside LOL) Rolled the can around until the screw fell out the retaining hole again.... then after installing the baffle and screwing it into place..... pushed the rubber plug back in too far and watched it slip inside the can..... What a pain in the A** to get back out.... 45 minutes of rolling the can around on its side and using fery thin pliers and a sharp dental pick tool to spear the rubber stopper.... i finally managed to get it back out threw the hole.
Needless to say I mounted everything on the bike and will NEVER take it out again! LOL Cheers
