I'm about tired of pushing the bike forward to get the chain oiled so it's time to get a rear stand. Question: Can the bike be lifted up from off the side stand by one person without it falling over or do I need to have another person present to center and hold the bike up while I lift with the stand? I already have the swing arm spools and will be getting a stand soon. Thanks muchly!

Yes. How? By propping the bike upright.

I have two bits of wood that I put under the side stand when the bike is upright and then line up my rear stand and presto. Makes chain maintenance so much easier.

Take it slowly and with practice, you'll be a pro in no time

As long as the bike is not lowered, you will have no problems at all. I'm only 60kg and can do it easily :D

What I use to lube chain is this.... but don't use a drill ,I just roll the wheel with the tyre.
Very quick ,very safe and very very easy. 8)

See my post also regards rear paddock stands:
paddock-stands-t2569.html

Eospro, would it be difficult to use a rear paddock stand if bike was lowered? I was thinking of using a rear stand in place of my centre stand due the difficulty in using it because it's lowered?

I would have to say no because that part of the bike would not have changed. If you can't use the centre stand, no point of having it on then.

You can do it. It's all about balancing it. Really not strenuous. Just takes a bit of practice.

Yeah its not hard ,
just stand on the left side of the bike ....turn the handle bars AWAY from you ....left rear off the ground .....

If you want to spin it ....then left the front and pull it backward towards you draging the front around with the front wheel off or just on the ground for balance. 8)

I have done it a few times ,DON'T Recomend doing it every day but it won't hurt it now and then.
They do it at bike shops every day ,when they have to pack 100 bikes back into the show room at night and jam them into corners.
