Hi fellas.

My name is Vitor, I'm a ordinary guy who lives in Brazil and never went to any foreign nice country (I don't consider Paraguay and Argentina as nice places... lol).

I'm studying English since July (thats the reason for any language error) and I'm thinking about spend some vacation a little bit far than usual. To practice english and, if it's possible, ride different roads and enjoy the view.

What I'm trying to ask is a hint of cool places that I can rent a bike without spend a lot of money in USA (Florida? Californa? Frisco? Where's the best spot to go first?) or Australia (Perth? Sidney? Same question...)

Finally, I would like [god, I need to talk about it, I was promoted in this very last second!!!!] to thank you guys for all help that you've been doing for ourselves.

Ride safe!
Vitor Chiamente

First, your written English is good. Better than mine, anyway!
Second, we need to know what time of year you would plan to vacation in N America or Aussieland.
Third, in the US many large motorcycle dealerships have bikes avail for rent.
Fourth, CONGRATULATIONS on the promotion!!!!

Hey Mike!

First of all, thank you. I'm doing my best to argue here... hehe

I'm gonna go out on vacation between April '21 and May '12 of the next year... I think it's a good season, right?

If you come to Australia you will not regret it one bit. The time of year you are thinking of is perfect. Not too hot and not too cold.
Australia is a big country with a lot to offer as far as the landscape goes. You can do the beach thing, mountains, bush, desert, country, city etc.... take your pick we got it all.

No matter where you go it is not heavily popuated, the people are friendly and helpful and we have a very mixed culture from foreign people living here and tourists, so you will never feel out of place. Your level of english is more than enough to not have any problems either.
Hope you drink beer!!!!

OK forum folks ..... Mescal needs our ideas.
What's weather like in Chattanooga/Asheville/Greenville triangle be like in late April - mid May? Also, where are the possibilities for renting a bike in this area?

Mescal - locate this triangular area ... Chattanooga, TN, Asheville, NC, Greenville SC. This is some of the twistiest & picturesque parts of US and a mecca for motorcyclists.

What other areas of US should he consider at that time of year?

Thanks!

John, that's a nice website!

I found bikes all around the globe. In Oz (Perth), I found a BMW GS650 to rent for 140 AUS/day. I guess that's cheap, compared with another bikes... is it, guys?

Also, I found the same BMW in Melbourne for 99 AUS/day... and Melbourne is near from the Great Ocean Road... right? Is there a cool place to visit by 2 wheels?

What you guys think about this route?

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source= ... 733643&z=7

Is it a nice route?? What if I go by the coast (2 stops to sleep) and go back by Horsham (one day driving straight)? Where are the best spots to sleep between Melbourne and Adelaide? Warrnanbool? Portland? Kingston SE?

Sorry about this thousand questions... but I'm kinda excited with this trip now... :)

Mescol,

I've got a "top 100 Australian Rides" book at home, that has routes mapped both localy and between states.
I'll have a look and see what is recommends. It has all the fuel stops, accomodation, distances etc..... to plan a trip with.
If your definately coming to Melbourne let me know and I'll meet up with you.

Cheers. BB

If your coming to OZ ...most people ...just do the east coast ,the west coast perth is nice ,but its isolated compared to the east coast ,with Melbourne ,sydney brisbane all on the one side .
All air fares in OZ are cheap ,from capital city to citys ...under $100 so maybe just fly from one city to another if time is a factor.
You should do a ride on ocean road ,its not far and great to see and do on a bike in a few days...never done it so not sure on where to stop and stay.

Melbourne to Sydney go via the coast ...And stay with me at "B" on the map and I'll show you around sydney ,I was born in the city in The rocks {see the google maps} and know what to see and do on the cheap cheap.

http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=newtown&daddr=Robert+Cram+Dr+to:nowra+to:narooma+to:eden+to:cann+river+to:sale+to:melbourne&geocode=Ff_H-v0d7dICCSnNhN1iNrASazFksH59tgr8lA%3BFYCV8_0dd_7-CA%3BFYbi6_0dnAb6CCnhRzR1GYAUazHX-WBUrq1y3A%3B%3B%3B%3B%3B&hl=en&mra=ls&sll=-38.102144,147.194824&sspn=1.422133,2.469177&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=7

You can stay in caravan park cabins for like $50 a night and eat at the clubs or hotels {pubs} for about $10 for dinner.
Or most country towns hotels {pubs} do DDB ..Dinner Bed and Breakfest for around $60 a night ...backpacker accommodation is cheaper ....BUT the pubs or caravan parks give your some where to park the bike safely off the road at night .
Need any more info just ask :D
