Installed the X-TRE to and Speedohealer. Thought I'd share the result.

The Speedohealer is about the easiest thing you could installed. Just unclip a connection and plug each end into the Speedohealer. 3 min job. I set mine to -7.5% and now the speedo reads dead on with the Sat Nav. Very happy with the correction. Nice not having to treat 108kmh as 100 kmh.

With the X-TRE, before buying it I had already disconnected the gear position indicator to try out how it affected the bike in gears 1-3. I was sold after riding it for 10 mins, the bike was just a much more happy beast and not jumpy in low gears. It just behaved. So happy with how the bike would benefit I ordered the X-TRE.

Like most, I'm very tentative with the idea of cutting any wire, let alone one that leads into the ECM. But installation was easy, just followed the instructions and all the splicing bits also come with the kit.

Result, got my gear position indicator back and now have a bike that doesn't jump and leap around in the lower gears at low speeds. There's 3 maps you can use. B-King, GSXR, All other Models. I started with 'All other models' and that was fine, decided to try the 'B-King' map and it just seemed a little bit better. Could just be subjective, but I preference that one.

I'd recommend getting either or both of these products. The bike is just so more manageable in gears 1-3 at low speeds with the X-TRE, the 'on-off' throttle jolts are all gone and it makes the ride just that much more satisfying. And as said, with the Speedohealer, it's just nice to finally have a speedo that reads a number that I don't have to think about

Would be interested in others opinion who have the X-TRE as to how they find the mappings.

Snout.

Nice you got good results with them. Guess I'm the only one who isn't bothered by the over enthusiastic Speedo. I have a simple rule I apply to al legal speeds. @ 10% to the legal speed limit and your still fine and wont get any tickets.

^ Yeah it hasn't overly bothered me, I've lived with the speedo error for 2 1/2 years so I got used to it. But since I was ordering the X-TRE I got the sppedohealer too and just very nice to not be double checking my speedo and gps when I glance at speed. In Australia the Speedohealer I got was $145, so you've got to ask yourself if it bothers you to pay the money. But I'm happy with the correction.

For me it keeps the tickets away. Since I already get a feeling I'm speeding while I'm not

Hey Snout,

Does the Speedohealer lend any inaccuracy to your ODO or does the X-TRE affect your MPGs?

If I understand it correctly, the X-TRE only affects the first three gears, so it shouldn't affect too much, unless you spend a great deal of time in dense traffic...

Thanks for the report. It looks very tempting...

Speedo and ODO are bound to eachother, so adjusting the speed signal to make the difference go away will get the ODO being of by -6 or -7 %.

I haven't measured the odo since installing to see if it has impacted it's accuracy. Hopefully someone that's had it for an extended time can shed some light on it. I was under the impression that it wouldn't impact it, but that was just my impression from reading threads. Even if it does, well, it's been worth it for the improvement in manageability in gears 1-3.

If the X-TRE is having any impact on the MPG it isn't much. I going to talk in kms here. I usually get 290kms before both the fuel light and bar start flashing. Having just done my first tank with the X-TRE installed, I still got to 290kms before both light and bar started flashing. So no significant drop off in fuel economy that I can tell in my real world running.

Sounds like something I might be really interested in trying, Snout. Thanks for the intel.

I get the impression from the Speedohealer website that the odometer is also corrected. I think this is possible since the speedohealer doesn't change the mechanics of reading the speed but instead modifies the data sent to the display electronically. I don't see why the speedohealer can't modify the speed and the odometer separately using two different functions.

But I reckon we won't know for sure until someone gets ambitious and lets us know :)

Its real simple, because the there is only 1 speed signal coming from the sensor at the front sprocket. That one signal is used for both the Speedo and Odo meter. The display then adds about 7-10% to the real speed but gives the exact number on the ODO. I did a trip to the Eifel (Germany) with 4 guys. The one in front had a Zumo 550. In total on the Zumo we traveled 2320km and my said 2310km. Speed difference at 50km/h was 3-4km/h difference on the speedo.
Speed differenec at 140km/h was 14km/h difference on the speedo.

We have 'traject control' on our highways. That measure your speed over a total distance and record your license plate (instant fine when exceeding >3km/h)
I rode 135km/h on that piece of highway. Its been 1 year and never seen a ticket :)
