I already started a topic/posted it somewhere a year ago, but I'd like to make a new effort.

We have 2000+ topics in the GSX650F section where everything is put. Questions about tyres, suspension, performance, maintenance, electrical. I'm a pretty smart guy and now my way around forums so searching stuff up is easy for me. But alot off people post they cannot find something and then make a new topic.

No big deal here but I think the forum can use a make over for the layout. It can help those who aren't familiar enough browsing forums, to find what they need for, faster.

It could be something like this

GSX650F Forum

Introduction -> Introduce yourself and your 650/1250F
Reviews
Gallery
Riders Club/On your bike (never understanded these 2 were seperate) I would just call it General GSXF Chat

Technical

How To Section -> Only for the well explained how-to's
DIY Tips and Tricks/Maintenance
Tyres/Suspension
Electrical

Members Section

Motorcycle Events
Regional chat
For Sale/Wanted/Trade

I really think this could help the 'mess' our forum is in. And I'm willing to spend a full day sorting and moving everything around if needed (means I need to have admin/mod rights for at least 1 day, but also in the market to be a full fledged mod if wanted) I already have experience administrating 2-3 forums.

I hope you guys can give some feedback about this idea, or have some other/better suggestions.

Still props to Arenalife/Sleddog for maintaining the forum as it is, but I know it could be better 8)

The only thing that I would update is the search feature. If it could search for phrases instead of just keywords I believe that may help some of the mutiple postings about the same topic. Example, if I search for handlebar vibration the search feature returns any thing with handlebar and/or vibration resulting in some results that have nothing to do with handlebar vibration such as wheel vibration. I have looked at the search options to try to set it for a phrase but didn't see anything that would do that. Did I miss it? Other than that this forum is extremely informative and I have learned alot of information about my bike and bike mods as well as trouble shooting. Just my two cents.

Hi Sleddog, if you are doing all on your own thats a big job your doing and all the members should give you "Job Well Done" i will.

I was remembering when the forum went down and had that cute but goofy college chick come up. What country is
the server located and is a back up been done. And if You are using your computer thats a big system, harware and software.

I would think the first is get more cash into the forum then upgrade the hardware and software, and members
that are or know of IT techs should contact Sleddog via PM and offer some help.

I think owning the 650 a job and family is a lot already and to run the forum thats giving big time.

To revise the forum layout you dont need anything else then admin rights. Thats something a full fledged Administrator can give you. If you/we want to upgrade the forum to one with more options/settings then there maybe is a one time fee needed. But again, that was not my intention.

@willms81: If I needed a very specific search I use Google to search the forum. Just go to advanced options in Google, enter this website adress (http://www.gsx650f.biz) into the website/domain location and you can search anything you want. It's a common problem when you search with 2 words you get hits that can contain only 1 of those words. That was my point all along. I'm very good in filtering information and how to look stuff up, but for other people its a bit harder. This way you can limit your search to a specific forum section and have a higher probability to directly find what you were searching for.
