I use JVC earphones, sort of the poor mans Skull Candy ones. Usually only wear hearing protection for higher speed trips out of town. In the city I feel better hearing everything around me, but there aren't as many dangers on the 40 minute trip to the beach, and the earplugs block a lot of noise even without music on. Aside from listening to music while riding, can anyone suggest some artists off the beaten path to check out? I'm really digging Tommy Emmanuel and Adam Rafferty right now, acoustic stuff. Link to Adam Rafferty playing Superstition by Stevie Wonder. I love it :D

Small correction made.
Thanks for the lead to Rafferty. Like his stuff!

You're very welcome. His version of Billie Jean is great too. Also Thanks for the correction, too much wine consumed this evening. I looked back at the post and blushed at my own stupidity.

If your into the acoustic stuff, check out anything by 'John Butler Trio' and 'José González'. Both my favorite artists.

And if you want an absolutely mind blowing album search for the the album called 'Latin' by Tátrai Tibor & Szűcs Antal Gábor.
The Latin album contains some seriously impressive guitar work that will leave you thinking "WTF!!!!!!"

"Keb Mo' is another good one with some more traditional Southern blues - My wife and I walked down the isle to his track 'Every Morning'.
Got a chance to see him play a few years later in Melbourne and was worth every cent of the ticket.

Also, although I'm not too keen on Jazz guitar 'Joe Pass' is definately worth a listen to.
Its not the usual - it just sounded like you played 50 wrong notes, shifted the key 5 times and changed the time signature 8 times...and that was just the intro.
Joe Pass is more more of a cruisy easy listening solo jazz guitarist with some great sounding work.

Difficult to post today, the Board says "Over Capacity."

My first Ipod song is Taize type music that I am unable to find on the internet. Only on CD, I guess, "Alleluia (Zagorst)" It's kinda like, "Alleluia! I'm riding!"

"Din Din Wo" is catchy and upbeat. Just makes me feel happy and energized. I have no clue what the African language is, or what the words mean. But it's a fun song.

I have about 6 different kinds of Taize songs, lots of jazz and blues songs, a Willie Nelson album, and some Lynda Randall songs. I like the Kris Kristopherson song, "One Step at a Time," or something like that title.

Good call on heavy music for the twisties :D If you're into heavy stuff give this one a go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1H55x7VQJWM
Band is called Baptized in Blood (wierd name), song's called Next Stop California. Heavy punk with an edge to it.
It took me awhile to get used to the vocals but I love this song now for anything high intensity.
