Hello All,

I am new to this forum so please excuse if I make a few rookie mistakes when posting. :D I just purchased a new 2008 GSX650F which should be delivered to me this week.

I purchased this bike with the idea of spending about 70% riding by myself with the other 30% riding with my girlfriend on the back. The thing I was hoping to get some advise on is seating and backrest for my girlfriend. When we are riding together I will also need to have some bags attached. I have looked at Corbin with their backrest as well as Russell seats. Right now my plan is to go with the Sargent Seat while using a Givi E52 Case as a backrest (I found that if I use the SW-Motech racking that I can remove the whole thing when riding solo).

Any input on what works with you guys would be a great help.

Thanks and look forward to exchanging stories and ideas with everyone.

Al,

I'm working on figuring out the comfort thing not onlyu for my girl while riding two up, but for myself when riding two up as well. With the slope the seat has, it seems perfectly designed to make sure my private parts are getting crunched every time I bring the bike to a halt. Towards the end of solving that issue, I ordered up a Suzuki factory gel seat from the 1250S. Of all the aftermarket seats, it seems like the only one that's got something of a lip to keep the pillion in place. It also seems like it might actually gice my girl a little more leg room. The stock setup has her legs bending at such an angle that it's very hard for her to use them in any way to control her position on the bike. Unfortunately I'm still waiting on all the small parts for the front pan I need to make this seat work on the 650F, so I can'r report on how it works as a solution for this issue.

While a top case seems like a great way to create a backrest, it would also be horrible in the event of getting rear ended. That's a deal breaker to me.

The Sargent seat has an optional removeable padded backrest available. The seat is also not as sloped as the stock seat (i.e. it it is more leval and flatter) and less likely to leave one sterile.
