Hi All,
It's time to invest in a new seat, the stock saddle is starting to give me a case of numb bum.
I'd like to keep the stock saddle in original condition to add value at point of sale, and there's only a small number of retailers here in Australia selling Corbin and Sargent saddles.
Has anyone installed either of these seats? I'm looking at getting some real-world opinions, as it's a fair amount of money (about $700 AUD) and i'd rather not spend cash on something that's of little benefit.
click on the left for bandit 650/1250 scroll down to seat and back rest.
Its a modified corbin seat
I have looked into the prices between all three and they are very close to each other, now the shipping might be a bit more but modifications look like the seat is better for the bum (personal opinion)

I have the Sargent. I was able to talk myself into parting with the cash because if I had to keep the stock seat I would have sold the bike long ago. It definately does make an improvement but if you are looking for hour after hour of endurance riding you will still need something like an Airhawk or sheepskin pad. It's not a magical cure, but it is certainly a hell of a lot better than the stock seat. Also, it will fit a Bandit 1250 if you happen to upgrade to one.
I have never had a Corbin but opinions seem to differ wildly. Some say they are way to firm, others say the firmness makes them comfortable. I think they are upholstered in leather which requires some care if your bike is out in the elements, whereas the Sargent is the usual vinyl type stuff.
I suspect the amount of benefit you will get from an aftermarket seat has a lot to do with the weight of your upper body. Skinny guys butts don't have as much pressure per unit area as those of us with, errmmm, larger torsos so they would probably not benefit a great deal. I on the other hand thank god for every square inch the Sargent offers

I am with you on getting rid of the bike if there are no seat options
I found the airhawk you mentioned and those look pretty cool, how do they mount to the seat? it looks like we can get any aftermarket seat we like, i.e. corbin, sargent, holeshot. and add this thing on....i would like to find out..
who want to grant me the money so i can answer this question for all the forum members? lol lol lol
I've ordered a few things from them and found the service excellent.
Cheers.

I've been reading info about the GSX650F and the Bandit 1250 seats being swappable? Anyone know the truth? The GSX650F pillion seat is poor and slopes forward, the Bandit 1250 pillion looks better. Can I get the Bandit 1250 seat and slap it on my 2008 GSX650F?
I know the aftermarket seats such as corbin, sargent, holeshot are interchangeable between the 650 and 1250, as for the stock seat I am not too sure. But if I am going to by a new seat I would go with something with much more padding than stock because both bikes use the same material and the same amount of matieral..(just opinion)
Does anyone have input as to the improved pillion comfort with either the Sargent, Corbin or Holeshot Corbin seat? My 10 year old daughter finds pillion not too comfy and I fear my wife won't either. I've perched myself up there with the bike on sidestand and it does seem like I would be comfortable. Wife's not ridden on my new GSX650F yet due to toe surgery; she's 5'-9" tall and 125 lbs with long legs. Any feedback on improved pillion comfort would be appreciated. Also, is there a way to lower and move forward the passenger pegs? I would think that would help too.
I have been holding back a comment on this topic until I have additional information, but I have sent my seat off to this company: http://greatdaytoride.com/Home_Page.php
It's a small operation but in my conversations with Spencer he appears to know his stuff. I have shipped my seat to him and will have it back later this week. I plan to have a full review next week.
He informs me that the Bandit 1250 and the GSX650F seats are interchangeable. In fact, he has received quite a bit of work from Bandit owners who have purchased GSX seats because they are slightly lower in stock. Then they send the seat to Spencer for further mods.

I know your rear end is unique and all, but I was curious to know about the price you paid and the mods you had done. I finished going over his website and I am a little iffy so i will be looking forward to your review....
Hey Canter I have the AirHawk 2 seat pad and it has two elastic straps that go under the seat and clip onto the pad cover. The bottom of the cover is sticky - some rubber type material. I have not had a problem with it sliding around under me and as I stated in another post I can now ride for an entire tank of gas without any pain or numbness in my butt. I was looking at getting a Sargent before I got the AirHawk 2. Oh yeah, I am not affiliated with ROHO at all, just a fan of their product.

I sent my seat to Spencer in June, and since getting it back have been satisfied with the results. A basic mod is $50 for the rider end, and $25 more if you want to upgrade the padding to what is called supracore. Its a little more to do the passenger end too. You pay shipping there and back. From Pittsburgh PA it was $25 total for shipping. $100 total then for the mod. He usually does the work in 2-3 workdays. Spencer wants to know your riding style, upright, or bent over the tank, and prefers pictures of you sitting on the bike. I use my bike for commuting, usually on it 45 minutes each way. I'm not sure how my 54 year old butt would feel riding all day on it. And I'm tall, slender to where my wife says I have no butt....Anyway, I looked into Spencer too, and didn't find anything negative on his mods. An inexpensive mod compared to other options like a $400 seat. If I was going on a long trip I'd consider adding an Airhawk pad. What I don't like about pads and the such is that as they are removable I tend to want to take them off so they aren't stolen. Bottom line is email Spencer if you have any concerns. Unfortunately he only does work in the US for now.
