I recently purchased the Sargent Seat for my 2008 GSX650F. The seat is great, however, if you decide to order one.. be aware that even the "low seat" option raises up the seat from the factory one. What Sargent does not mention is that it is "wider," therefore your legs are wider on the seat and you lose about 1" touching the ground. So if you are someone who is "tip-toe" with the factory seat, you probably won't be able to touch the ground with the Sargent seat. I did install a 28 Liter CooCase Trunk, and Handlebar Barbacks from Twisted Throttle which I really love. It gives you a much more upright seating position. Anyway, that's my 2 cents for the day. I love the look of the seat with the Silver Beading along with the color scheme of my bike.

I've found a similar condition with the Holeshot/Corbin seat -- it is wider and even though it may be lower than stock, then net effect is to seem like you're about 1" higher off the ground when at rest. Also, with the sharper edge/rise to the pillion, it tends to move the rider more forward than with the stock seat, and this tends to result in more bend in the knees. However, I find the padding and overall feel of the Holeshot/Corbin seat to be a great improvement over the stock seat when riding, so if you want a better seat and can spare feeling higher from the ground, either the Sargent or the Holeshot are great seats.

Recently got my Sargeant (Low version) and have since been extrememly happy with the newfound comfort. Also have the 1" up & back risers which help alot...now have to get a touring screen to redirect the windblast since my body posture is now more upright.
Maybe I'll get the adjustable footpegs to uncramp my legs a little and those new forward pegs to stretch out a little on long rides.

From what I have seen the sargent seat will set you back about $450 or so. Is it worth it?

I bought one last year and, for me it was totally worth it. The factory seat was causing discomfort within the first hour, and an all day ride was excruciating. With the Sargent seat, the all day rides will still cause a little discomfort, but nothing like that factory pos.
If you're lucky enough to have someone in your area that has an aftermarket seat, they may let you try theirs before you buy. (I'm sure not all butts fit all seats) I managed to find a guy from this site, who didn't live too far away. He was cool enough to let me throw his seat on my bike and go for a ride. (Thanks again Bigbutt) I was convinced within about 15 minutes.

That is awesome. I was debating on buying the v35 side cases and manof1kfaces was kind enough to drive up from charlotte (about 1.5 hrs away) and let me check them out (thanks steve!). I was sold on them then, and ordered mine the day after. Is there anyone here that lives close to me that has a sargent seat? I'd love to come and check it.

BTW, this forum has been a tremedous help since I got my bike! Thanks everyone!

yes pricy, yet you get very good support for long drives and u can still move side to side for hard cornering yet, u can push your tail bone back and be really held in place, i did not like at all the sliding forward with the stock seat.

I agree with the other riders.. the Sargent Seat is definately more comfortable than the stock. The first day I installed it I was out for about 6 hours and my rear end didn't even hurt.. unlike the stock. Someone mentioned $450.00.. but I picked mine up online for about $337.00 out the door & I think it's worth every penny !

Help - Can someone clear this up. Does the Sargent LOW give MORE or LESS legroom to the pegs? I don't care about reach to ground, seat width, and all that. I just need to know how this seat effects legroom to pegs compared to stock seat. Thanks!!!!!!!!

The "Low" seat gives you less leg room between the seat and the pegs then the "standard", but due to the width of the seat even the "Low" seat will set you SLIGHTLY higher than the stock POS seat.

Hope that helps to clear it up

OK - Thanks for the PM's and replies. I am looking to improve comfort and NOT make my knees any more uncomfortable than they already are. My 36" inseam puts my knees in a bind with the stock seat. IT sounds like the "LOW" sargent might make this WORSE.

My fear of trying the std Sargent is getting to far away from the bars - I guess I could fix that with risers. Don't want to go too high on the seat. I'd really like feedback from someone that bought the Sargent std height. anyone? Thanks!

Great thread!

I think the Sargent seat looks really cool and might order one in a near future as I find the stock seat to get uncomfortable quite fast. It was a bit of a disappointment, to say at least. My initial thought was to order the back rest but most of the time I drive with my Givi top box mounted and I don't think that I'd be able to have both installed. Does any of you with the custom seat + back rest have any experience with mounting of top boxes?
