I got the "low" height Sargent and I recall that it felt the same as the stock seat. Presumably the STD height would feel taller than the stock seat.

I'm trying to find someone who has put the taller of the two sargents on a 650. I need the legroom but I don't want to mess up the relationship to the bars too much. Thanks!

I just purchased the Sargent with the standard seat height. It's seems fine compared to the stock as far as reaching the ground as long as you slide a little forward when putting your feet down.

It does make the handlebars feel a bit lower. So far not enough to bother me. I have only driven with the seat for a few miles as of now.

Hope this helps.

Al, thank you!
You've answered most of my question and I should have asked it more clearly:

If I put the STD seatheight Sargent on my 650 how much have I raised the seat height?

I'm inclined to get the STD sargent as I need the legroom, and I guess I could get back the reach to the bars with risers. Can you estimate about how much it changed the height? Are you satisfied with the seat so far?

Thanks!

It's not so much that it raised the seat so much as it makes it wider to give the feeling of being higher. That being said I would say it probably raised height about a half an inch.

So far I think the seat is good. But I really need to ride it more before I can give a full review. I will update you when I get a better feel.

Hi,

Just wanted to give you a further update on the seat. I actually decided to return it. The seat makes my reach to the handle bars to far, and made my back sore. Getting the low version might fix that, but I decided to go the custom route with www.day-long.com. I will post when I get a good review of it.

Good luck!!

Got my seat in the mail last night ( high seat) put it on the bike and got on. Got off the bike and pulled out the tape measure. Seat was higher by 1 3/4 inches, the seat is not wider but is shorther putting the driver about 1" nearer the handle bars. Deal breaker for me, so without test riding the seat it is being sent back. Sargent gave me a price of $200 to refoam my stock seat.
