My next project that I am embarking on is adding a gel insert to my seat and recovering the existing seat. I have found the raw gel seat inserts on ebay for $32.95 wtih free shipping. In additon I have found marine quality upholstery for $15.95 for a 54 inch square piece. I will use the existing foam and use the old seat cover as a template and insert the gel piece. I am 6ft tall and have no problems touching my feet to the deck at stops and the gel pad is about 3/4 inch thick. This looks very doable and and will be ordering the stuff today. I am going with a marine blue and black seat. My wife is going to help with the seams work. I will let you know how it turns out and will take plenty of pics as I have in the past with my mods.
Here are the links for the item on ebay as well as the marine upholstery.

I have received my fabric and waiting on the gel pad. Hopefully will be here tomorrow. I took the seat to an upholster and she is going to do a 3 tone seat with red, white metal flake, and blue metal flake for less than a $100.

just fyi if you are trying to shape your foam an electric turkey trimmer works awesome, i used to work at a shop that did seats and foam and thats what our guys used to get the right shape easily

Seat project is done. I had the seat re-upholstered and had a gel pad inserted. Very comfortable.... I took the bike for a 100 mile test ride and love the results. I would have posted pics sooner, however, the imageposter.com site was down. Anyway, here are the results. Comments?

Thanks for the feedback. I rode about 200 miles today with friends that all have Harley Cruisers. Butt is not sore at all.

For the forum user that wanted to see the undertail. Here is a pic. I have a previous post with the information on my tail trim. Look at my profile and look at my posts.
