So, went to drop the oil and change the filter over the weekend. Sump plug was WAAAAY too tight, and as I suspected the thread came out with it. Will approach the mechanic who I sent the bike too but in my experience this opens up a can of worms that doesnt always go down too well.....

So in short, does anyone have a GSX650F they are wrecking or know of a good place I could buy a sump pan from?

Got quoted $250 from a dealer but hoping I could get one a bit cheaper. Won't be risking it with a heli-coil as the last thing I need is to be pissing out oil if it doesn't get fixed properly =(

Thanks,

Marty

There is a web site called "findapart" that worked quite well for me.

I've used heli-coils in the past with no problem in VW bugs. Not uncommon to strip those. You could also look for a slightly larger drain plug and get the tap for that size. Won't be stock, but still cheaper than a new, or probably used pan.

Hard to prove it was their doing after you've stripped the bolt...
Not having a go - it's a shitty thing to happen...
But a warning to others perhaps - if it's too tight, take it back to the bloke that tightened it...

Nitekreeper, you've clearly proven that you have nothing better to do aside from trolling. I think everyone here would agree with me.
