Hey guys!
I've been browsing the forums on here for a while....after doing much research, I decided that the 650f was the bike that I really really really wanted as my first bike.
I was gonna buy a new '09 because I couldn't find any of these bikes for sale used (must be because they are so good that everyone keeps them!)....but I wasn't sure that I could swing the payments for a new one because I am fresh out of college and my student loan payments just kicked in....well....the clouds parted and sun shined down upon me...I stumbled across an '08 only minutes from my house. The guy that had the bike bought it for his son who was away at college, but everytime he came back down, he just ended up riding one of his dad's harleys. I managed to talk him down to $5,000 usd. and got my first bike! I then took the MSF basic rider course (which was a blast!)....
(come on with it already, get to the point!)
well, I just got tags on her today and took her out for the first time. Prior to this, my only experience was in parking lot while taking that riding course. I wasn't sure if I would get the courage to leave my apartment complex area my first time on the bike but after a few circuits around the apartments, I did it...and man am I glad I did....
I've offically had my first ride out with all the cagers!....in rush hour traffic even!! I spent about 30 minutes out riding before bringing it back in but I'm still on cloud nine and my adrenaline is still pumping...this bike is amazing and very peppy! call me a wienie, but I dont' think I got about 7k rpms the whole ride!....but hey, it was my first "official" ride!....and it was a blast...I'm hooked...and proud to be one of you guys and a part of this great forum. I hope to eventually be able to contribute some valuable information like the rest of you! (or add in to the craziness! i.e.- going from (shifters?) to prostitutes in 3 posts!! )

I'm hoping to get my half-a-busa soon! ["Super Noob" hee hee]
I started riding when I was 41 (in 1996) and I shoulda listened to my biker friend, and bought a small bike (the GSX650F wasn't around then), it would have been perfect and I would still own it. Shoulda coulda woulda... wouldn't have thrown $$$$$$ down the toilet with that stupid Harley I just HAD TO HAVE.
Anyway, ride safe. I thought that black ones were faster! The orange is probably what I will buy though

One more thing, was your new 2008 on the showroom floor, or in a box somewhere?
The Suzook website shows 2008 available for $6999 where the 2009 is $7899, are the 2008 available only if that dealer has one?
Or can anyone get a 2008?
There doesn't seem to be a reason to get a 2009, it doesn't have ABS optional.

Mike- during my search for a new 09, I was unable to find any dealerships around here that had an '08, and I'm pretty sure that 08's would only be available at dealers that were either used or stock left over from the previous year, because I would imagine there wouldn't be an option to order an '08. I certainly wasn't presented that option.
I had a price war going and was playing the "he said- she said" game at all the suzuki dealerships in my town. After all additional fees from the dealer I was able to convince them to go low enough to get the bike for $8,000 out the door- this meaning the bike was around the $7399 area.... my price war plan was fairly effective, but whenI found this used one (which I thought was a sign) I jumped on it!

Hey d358, welcome to this cool forum!
I still get the feeling everytime I start my BLUE/WHITE 08 650f.
On a sunny day, look at the white parts of your bike, like the rear fender, and see that beautiful metal flake white glisten in the rays!!!!!!!!!
This bike has tons of power also. I know some guys say it does not, but probably only 5% of guys riding it could use this machine to it's ability.
I have ridden all types of bikes since 1972, and I know this one has enough power for me.
You get her to 10 grand off the line you better hang on!!!!!!!!!!
