Does anyone know if this recall applies to bikes in the UK?

Yup, its a worldwide recall. Just contact your (nearest) Suzuki dealer for info.

Mine needs to be done. Dealer tells me the part is on back-order from Japan and they have no idea when it'll be in, but the workorder has been submitted and part ordered.

My local dealer has one waiting for me whenever I get around to bringing the bike in. Service manager said it'd take 30 mins or so; reccomended I come at lunch time and grab a sandwich next door, by the time I get back it'd be ready to go.

Thanks Metrick Metal for the pic...

Isn't this just the black box above the front sprocket? If so, it's 3 or 4 bolts to remove the plastic engine cover, and 3 bolts to remove the box. It has two plugs for wiring and that's it... Not more than 5-10mins of work and I don't see any reason why the left fairing has to be removed. I believe you guys are right, dealers are quoting long wait times so you have to hang around in the store for a bit.

Metrick Metal made a custom mount for the R/R. Normally it sits horizontally under cylinder #1 throttle body which is inaccessible with the fairing on .
But still indeed its only:
4-5 hex bolts for the fairing.
3 hex bolts to remove the sprocket cover
2-4 10mm bolts to remove the R/R mount and R/R itself and cut a zip tie and unhook the 2 plugs.

Ah thanks for clearing that up. I recall seeing it laying horizontally when I installed my 16t sprocket, I didn't look too hard and didn't realize that there were inaccessible bolts. Also didn't know the fairing was that easy to pull, so I guess it makes sense to remove it and make things easier.

Try suzuki of Branpton.
My son is away in the military so he didn't renew his insurance this year. He couldn't get his bike in so
I called them and explained that I would have to rent a trailer or insure it just for the recall. I asked them to let me have the part and I would install it myself for him.
They checked with the service manager and I had the part within 2 days.

Installed. Bike done.

Hi,
Just had the recall done here in Sydney, took 20 minutes while I waited. Easy.

Thanks. My part is in. I just have to find the time to get over there to get it put in.

I picked up my new R/R yesterday from the dealer. I dont have time during the week to spend riding to them (40min) waiting another 30 min to let them install it and ride back again. It costs me 2 hours which I can spend an other things. They told me they didn't need the old one back so I went to them and after that went for a nice ride because the dealer was on the route of my trip :)

Gonna install it today or tomorrow.

The only thing I needed to show were my bikes papers with the bikes VIN number on it so they could order it. Pretty stupid your dealers personel were a PITA about it.

I didn't need anything LOL. I called my local dealership, they had the part there. Cruised over one afternoon; they took the VIN off the state registration card along with my name/address, recommended I try the place next door for a good hamburger, ate some good lunch and they had the thing swapped out in 15 mins. Two signatures and I was gone.
