Hey guys,
This was posted on a local forum I am on... it's a list of 2008 and 2009 vehicles being recalled... I haven't been able to contact my suzuki dealer yet... According to the VIN numbers listed my bike is 3 before the VIN's start.... The guy who passed this too me's wife has a 650f as well, and hers was a rectifier..., not sure if everyone's will be that Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up!

Here is the Australian & US Suzuki Road Bike recall list. Our bikes are not on the list. Suzuki states that all original owners are contacted my mail in the event of a recall on their particular model.

It appears that my bike falls right in the middle of that range. I'll just wait for a bit to see if I hear from my dealer or Suzuki Canada. I'm not in a big hurry. It's a little too cold for me to be riding anyway. Thanks for the heads-up though. If I don't hear anything, I'll pursue the matter.
Just checked the American Suzuki website recall page and this recall isn't there. http://suzukicycles.com/Recalls.aspx Doesn't mean it isn't true, but if someone calls a dealer in the US and hears differently then let us know please. My local dealer has restricted hours in the winter so I can't call them till Sat.
I just spoke with the service manager at my dealer who is aware of it but instructed me to wait until Suzuki makes the "official" announcement. They (dealer) are not clear yet on what the exact fix will be - repair it or replace it He also said they do not have the parts required in stock yet and they do have a sales hold on some new models currently because of this issue
He also confirmed that Suzuki will mail the notice to owners and I will have to bring that in with me when I get the work performed

Oh right, sorry I has to do with a rectifier, I forgot the exact name of it but it involves keeping the battery charging whilst running the bike My dealer told me "just keep riding like you do" They know I ride everyday and have not yet had any issues

I will check my bike tomorrow as I have one month left of the warranty so I might be just in time? Or is this also done after the two year warranty? (Netherlands) Rectifier overcharging makes the battery smell like rotten egs.

For a recall there is no need for warranty. Mine is 2,5 years old but if mine needed a new RR its would've got one.
Basically the article states that the recall will go out March 2, 2011. The problem is stated as "The regulator and rectifier assemblies on certain models may lack sufficient adhesion between the power module and the rectifier case. As the power module heats up, the circuit board may deform, causing the module to lift off from the case. This can cause excessive heat and uncontrolled electric current output, affecting the discharge of the battery and potentially leading the engine to stall or fail to start."

They'll still fix it, but they just won't be able to let you know, as they have an obligation to make very reasonable effort to contact all affected owners. You can let Suzuki know your address so they can keep you in the loop.
