Well, just got home from the dealer after ordering a thorough service with full synthtic oil. They filled it with Yamalube 15w50 synthetic oil. What I noticed during the 35 mile trip home was a new smoothness in the engine and gearbox.Noticably less buzz on the hands and smoother shifts as well.My 650F just passed 18k miles of perfect service...Good Girl!

Hum....
I'm not gentle on my bike at all. It sees hooligan days to gentle days at least 4 to 1. I swear by synthetic, and my bike has not acted cross once. not once.

Got the bike new last October and have been using the Gastrol semi synthetic since the 600 miles service. Just did the third oil change at 7500 miles last week. The oil was a dark amber/gold. Not dirty at all. Have about 50 miles to go till the bike hits 8000 miles, and it feels like the engine is just starting to become broken in. It's so sweet!

Don't use Synthetic blends, they're worthless for the price. save yourself the money, and buy Dino oil if you don't want the price tag of full synthetic.
Syn Blends are like... 1% Synthetic oil poured in with 99% Dino. Not kidding here.

Bump!
Hey all, you'll have to excuse me for my noobiness... But... Anyone tried this stuff? http://www.bikebiz.com.au/products/Yama ... ic-4L.html Bluethunder, this could be the same oil they put in yours, but I don't know much about oils... Normally the dealer puts 10W40 synthetic blend in my bike, but everytime i go and get her serviced, they laugh at how dark the oil comes out and say things like "fuck this bike gets worked doesen't it?"... Now that my warranty is up, I'm going to start doing my own servicing, starting with an oil and filter change in about 800kms... To give a bit of background on my riding, i ride the bike like it's a sports bike (as i cant go any bigger on my p's, once the restrictions are off I'm jumping on an 09+ R1 or a gsxr750... but that's a story for another day) and it lives up near the redline in gears 2,3,4 and 5... And every now and again 6th so it's ridden hard... I thought if I'm going to do my own work, i want to put something decent in it that is going to suit the style of riding i do, but not pay an arm and a leg for it... If i have to pay an arm and a leg, i'll cop it, but hey, it's not a race bike... Just wondering on any suggestions?

Bel Ray EXP 10W40 Also synthetic blend, according to their own website. I liked this last year in the alpes. Last week, I changed back to Belray again.

Dash, Try the Silkolene - http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online ... escription Good stuff, cheaper, and easier to get. When I am mainly city driving, I change out the oil every 3000, and filter every other. You would be able to feel it in your shifter if you need it more often than spec.

Might have a look into it yet ilegnant... Although i'd rather only have to change it every 6000kms... If i can get a longer lasting oil to avoid the frequent oil changes i will... So what's the difference in running the different oil viscosity's? I.e, is there any advantages of running a 15W50 weight oil over the 10W40?
