What's everyone using? I know you can get the stick-on pads and I've also seen the magnetic ones as well. Also, you can buy a tank 'bra', but most people say that dust and dirt get underneath and basically acts as sandpaper. I'm considering taking mine in and having the paint protection film applied. Any suggestions?

I just ordered a tankslapper. It is the cheapest option, it retains the original look, and unlike the bra or magnetic covers will not scratch...but will prevent scratches.

This looks like a great product! Just what I was looking for! But, which one did you order? They have separate kits for different bikes, but I don't see the GSX650F listed... Is there another model bike that would work? How about the Bandit 650? Is that the same tank?

My magnetic cover has been on since day one. That was a year ago in 10 days, no scratches to speak of. That was also 6,000+ miles ago.

Kris,

I e-mailed the company and they responded that the Bandit 1250 tank is identical. So I ordered it. The kit (and my bike) has not arrived yet so I can't say if I'm happy with it. The website has a "how to" video which shows the installation procedure...looks pretty easy.

I ordered the Suzuki tank bra when I bought the bike.
Fit is excellent, easy on and off, looks good and protects the tank from knee rub. $33.00.

I have this rubber tankpad:

Very different compared to the generic rib shaped carbon pads.

Might as well add some pics of the rubber tankpad;

(For the more relaxed riders among us, they also come in blue :P)

I wonder how some prefer a full tank cover such as that tank bra? I mean what good is protecting your tank to keep it free from scratches if you're hiding it from view anyway :? It's like purchasing a pricey leather sofa and permanently covering it with an opaque cloth!

Resale, for one. I change bikes almost every year, although I might keep this one for two.
Second, the Suzuki bra only covers the rear portion of the tank and the knee contact area, which concerns me most, since I tend to hug the tank with my knees.
Third, I think it looks great. Have gotten quite a few compliments on it.

I know it is not for everyone, but it works well for me. :D

Sleddog, yours is cool, provides more protection where your legs are. I've got the black bike and I've noticed scuffs and swirl marks in that area, that's why I'm considering the paint protection film. Or am I just hugging the bike too much? :D
