Hi guys, test rode an '09 GSXF today after not riding for about 7 or 8 months following an off where I wrecked my CBR600F and dislocated my shoulder. Was a little nervous initially but soon got back into the stride of things and really enjoyed the ride!
I cant believe how smooth the engine is on these, and they are pretty damn quick too! Maybe not quite as quick as my F4i was, but near enough and plenty for me to be honest.
Seriously considering buying a new black '09 within a couple of weeks on 0% finance over a few years. What do you guys think? How much value are these likely to lose over either one or two years if kept in good condition and with maybe 5k miles or so per year? They are £5.5k OTR here in the UK. If I buy on finance do you think I can still negotiate for accessories such as exhaust, crash bungs, scottoiler, alarm etc.? If so how much value should I be looking for them to include? I am prepared to ring around a few dealers and see if they will look to gain my custom.
I have never bought a vehicle brand new before, have always bought 2nd hand cars and bikes so any advice about negotiation and prices I can expect to pay are much welcomed!

I'm not much of a negotiator myself but 0% finance sounds pretty damn good to me, and when you consider inflation, it should help offset depreciation a little (though not much). I think from a negotiation standpoint you are not in a good bargaining position because they know you probably dont have the cash and there are only so many other places you can go that will offer you the same deal on finance. i.e. someone with cash can take their offer or leave it, they dont care, while you are a little more restricted.
The bike will obviously depreciate to some extent but less so than a dedicated sports bike. It is classed as a sports tourer and I expect the popularity of the bike will greatly increase in the coming year or two. Having said that, if you are not 100% certain that this is the bike for you, any chance of buying used? Even if it is a 12 month old bike, it has still taken the brunt of the depreciation already while not having aged in any meaningful way.

Hi human potato, the 0% finance is at any Suzuki dealer in the UK here at the moment - most of the manufacturers here have the same kind of deals on at the moment until the end of the month. Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki etc., all have 0% across much of their 2009 range right now, so its not as if its just this one specific dealer.
Honda, for example are doing 0% over 42 months right now, which equates to a brand new 600RR for £149 a month with minimum deposit, or you could have the ABS version for £179 a month! If I could afford the insurance and thought I wouldn't kill myself I would jump on that!
So with this in mind, the fact I could go to any dealer and choose from a wide variety of manufacturers/bikes, do you think I could negotiate for accessories? All I'd really want is an exhaust and crash bungs and I'd be happy. I don't think thats a massive amount to ask for to seal the deal, RRP on the exhaust (Scorpion round can with edge outlet) is £189, so dealer would probably be paying around what, £150 for it. Crash bungs, what are you looking at for those.... probably about £30-£40?
Doesn't seem like a massive ask, was just wondering if anyone else had managed to negotiate deals, despite paying via a 0% finance deal. I did really like the bike, and I know it will be a great bike for a couple of years until I can afford insurance on a supersport (and hopefully help me learn the necessary skills) but £5.5k does seem like a lot of money - most bikes have gone up between £500 and £1k this year - SV650s for example were £4k last year and had 0% deals on (I was tempted to buy one, but decided against a brand new bike as my first - good call!) this year they are over £5k!
