Okay, I'm a newbie and I'm not really sure what the proper wave or salute is. Can someone explain it? Seriously!
What I will say is that in my few days of riding, every motorcyclist I have see has waved or nodded. I never knew this occured. It is such a great feeling!

make up your own, last time i checked there is no manual! Just don't use the middle finger, espicially if they are a large group of harley riders!

most of the riders that i come across round here tend to do a sideways nod-almost as though they are trying to make their ears touch their shoulders very quickly, but afew of them just do a normal forward facing nod...so i guess any form of movement as long as the other riders sees you...

Glad I drive on the right side of the road No nodding, just your hand waving/pointing w.e. you call it Almost everybody here in Holland does it. Only real old farts (mostly on choppers) dont do it.

I just do it with 2 fingers (against eachother) sideways from the clutch. There is 1 reason why I wouldn't do it, and that is when I see the person isn't wearing protection aka squid.

Cool link haa21. I try not to wave or nod to squids. The brotherhood (and sisterhood) among bikers is amazing and is a great reason to get out and ride.
