It's "a Bandit with fairings".
Yep, a "Fandit".
Cheers, Matt
[Edit] Actually most (acquaintances) tend to be interested in the CC size for some reason; so when someone asks, I just say I have a "650". It's enough to get a nod.

I'm more partial the the jix-F/ Gixx-F. Not fond of the Gixxie. Sounds (no offense) girlie. I am NOT riding a banana or anything that sounds related to one. My dear wife refers to it as 'That damn thing!'

I dunno, Fandit is a little too close to "faggot", not that there is anything wrong with that.
As for saying it's a 650, that really shows the ignorance of a lot of the public, and many motorcyclists also. Fact is, a 250cc Aprillia RS 250 would leave us all in its dust (in fact, an RS 125cc would probably do the same). I recall telling someone that I rode an "XJ", after which they asked me "yeah but what number?". Its just something that gets under my skin.

Speak for yourself, white man! Many kittens were sacrificed today (and almost a small white 3-legged dog, but that's another story...), and I doubt either of the RSs would've stayed with us for long...

Human Potato is right. A RS250, even with the a lower skilled/leveled rider on it, would leave a 650F well behind him. 140kg (dry weight), 70 BHP 2 stroke vs 216kg(dry weight), 85BHP 4stroke. There is really no comparison.
Even in straight line acceleration the 650F cant win I think. Indicated top speed of the RS250 is 138mph which is about the same as the 650.

Those that ask are generally acquaintances that knew my previous "investment" was a 115kg, 150cc Chinese-thing; they're more interested in the amount of step-up I've made, which is substantial I guess. Those that have owned a road-bike themselves (less than 5%?) and ask what bike, I say, "it's a heavy 650, a Suzuki".
Generally though, we're all pretty ignorant about a lot of things (perhaps Kreepster is the exception ), particularly long-term big-picture stuff. Not many of us step too far outside "our own little world", let's be honest, to get a better grip on how things might eventually play out. And common sense seems to be spread pretty thinly as well.
Cheers and grumbles, Matt
PS. I've dropped "Fandit"; it does sound a bit gay (not that there's anything wrong with that).
