Glad you enjoyed it mate and it will just get better .I learnt so much after my first ride in the area.
Have you ridden the snowy moutains nitekreeper ?...its not the dark that the problem. I have had a few close calls with brumbies and roos. There are fallen trees all over the place ,branchs ,road kill ,black ice...wet leaves to watch out for and a new rider to the area can get caught out ,if they get stuck out there in the night and are behind time. It not like riding around in a big city .

No Dog, I've not ridden the Snowies. But I grew up in Tas, and I've also done a few Melbourne -> Adelaide and Sydney -> Melbourne trips so I'm no stranger to wildlife, darkness and adverse conditions...
Have another look at viewpoint's post though:

Now, if it said "Riding the Snowies after dark and in the wet is not something I'd recommend", I might tend to agree. But it doesn't. It says "Never ride after dark" with a couple of "speciallys" tacked on for good measure. Dude seriously needs to harden up...

I think you've proved you're a fuken tough guy buddy. If he doesn't want to ride at night then don't ridicule him. People are all different, we all have our own ideas on what is a good idea and what isn't. Kudos to viewpoint8 for knowing his own limits and riding responsibly, much better than drinking a glass of concrete and trying to ride outside his comfort zone. I may not be comfortable riding out into the outback where you're the only person around for hours, and you may not be comfortable riding 80mph in bumper to bumper traffic on a 15 lane bridge with no shoulders and people who drive like madmen. I think you'd piss your pants trying to ride in my neck of the woods, alright MATEY? Different strokes for different folks, it shouldn't be an issue and there's no need to ridicule other's opinions. Get out of the cave once in awhile and socialize, it'll be good for you.

What makes you so sure I'd piss my pants in your neck of the woods, MDW? And 80mph, bumper to bumper traffic? Exaggerate much? But since you started with the bullshit, I would laugh in the face of that traffic, and split it on my back wheel. I also think you can do better than name-calling - I try to avoid it myself...

No exaggerating and no BS here, ask some of the other riders from my area. Well actually I checked, the bridge I'm speaking of now has 21 lanes. The Garden State Parkway during Spring/Summer is just as I described it, sure once it gets very heavy it may slow to 50-60mph, generally it stays at 70-80mph. The newly expanded Driscoll Bridge is the widest highway bridge in the USA, behind that is the 14 lane George Washington Bridge into NYC and the San Francisco bridge. Speed limit on the Garden State parkway is 65mph, average speed is 80. With so many lanes heavy traffic will not slow down and 'jam' as quickly as highways you may have experience with, instead you have people weaving around the slow cars in various lanes at very high speed. Nobody uses turn signals, hence it is very dangerous on a motorcycle. The highways around here are made to handle an incredible amount of traffic, nearly half a million vehicles travel the section I'm speaking of every day.
You've made it clear, you're the toughest of tough so I guess you would scoff at this anyhow.

Priceless. So, it's 80 all the way, bumper to bumper is it? Except when it's heavier than bumper to bumper, and it slows to 50? I'm having trouble picturing that, to be honest.

Okay, you're getting better; that wasn't quite name-calling. Still pointless, but not name-calling.

Yes, 80mph with about half a car length in between. I guess technically the bumpers are not touching sorry. Problem is if you leave a car length in front of you open it will be filled by someone trying to change lanes, you will be cut off. In aussie land your highways are nothing in comparison. Look it up online since you have nothing better to do all day. The NYC metro area has the same population as your entire country; roughly 20 million.
Seeing as this thread is flying way off topic I will stop feeding the troll now...

Yeah, belittling my country was the next most-obvious tack for you to take, I guess... Also conveniently avoided the point I was making, about you exaggerating your riding conditions just a little... So is it 80mph, or 50?
Aah, who am I kidding? It's late, and I couldn't give a big black rat's arse...
