I skipped church last Sunday and rode 50 miles east of Salem, Oregon to a little resort town at the east end of Detroit Lake. I just needed to ride someplace that was easy and fun. Many, many other riders along the way.
This is Big Cliff dam at the west end of the Santiam river, forming the Detroit Lake reservoir east of it. There is a smaller Little Cliff dam further west which forms another much smaller lake.

In June or July, I plan to ride the loop around the Olympic peninsula, and will see Crescent Lake. I'll be stopping to say hi to my older sister in Sequim, Washington.

Hope your taking 101. Watch out for staters between
Shelton and Port Angeles.

I'm going counter clockwise around the loop, Shelton to Port Angeles, and westward, then southward on 101 through Forks, to Hoquiam and Aberdeen.

Thanks for the warning about the WSP's. I hope they don't have grudges against bikers.

I used to hunt and fish on the western parts of the Olympics, and worked in Bremerton one summer.

I will likely continue south on 101 and cross over the Columbia near Astoria, back into Oregon.

I learned to drive a car on the beach at Grayland, or maybe it was Ocean Shores. Lots of room for mistakes.

Looks like you took a lot of dam pictures. Hope you didn't forget the dam bait.
Sorry I couldn't help myself!!

Thanks for sharing your ride. I'm in your neighbor state, waiting for weather to actually act like spring.

Good route just wanted to make sure you were not trying to go the bremerton way due to the hood canal bridge being closed.

midlifeuturn, what part of the dam state of Idaho are you. I once lived in the southern flat lands, a bit west and north of Twin Falls.

How's the riding out there in Southwest Oregon?

And how's the cost of living?
